There's something about this little beach town that has a way of making people fall in love, with each other, and with the place itself. Golden hour light, a quiet stretch of sand, and a whole lot of romance. Oak Island, doing what it does best.

Planning a proposal of your own? Off-season is worth considering, fewer crowds means better light, more privacy, and nobody wandering into your photos. And if you need a place to stay while you're at it, we'd love to help. Link in bio.

We have someone looking for a place this weekend at one of the Brunswick islands. Does anyone have anything available?

Fall is creeping in, and we've got some thoughts on what's actually "kinda chic" this season. Trading flip flops for a flannel? Chic. Having a whole stretch of beach to yourself? Very chic. A low-key trip with your favorite people and absolutely no itinerary? Couldn't be more chic. If a fall weekend in Brunswick County is calling your name, swipe through for a little inspiration, and check out why we think off-season might just be the best season. Link in comments!

Costumes, community, and a whole lot of Oak Island charm. This year's Oak Island Witches Ride is October 24th from 12-4pm, no registration required, just a suggested $10 donation that supports Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter and Oak Island Water Rescue. Riders make their way between local restaurants and bars at their own pace, then wrap up with the Witches Dance at Middleton Park. We put together a full guide with everything you need to know before you go, link in comments. See you there, witches!

Something a little different is happening on Bald Head Island this Labor Day weekend.

The Battle of Fort George marks the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War battle fought right at the mouth of the Cape Fear River, and it's being commemorated with a full weekend of living history, a reenactment on the original earthworks, and a block party featuring Southern BBQ from Matt Register of Southern Smoke BBQ, live music, and local brews.

If you're already staying in the area for Labor Day (or thinking about extending your trip into September), this is a genuinely unique reason to do it.

We put together everything you need to know, dates, times, how to get there, and where to grab tickets. Link in the comments 👇

A few weeks ago we sat with sea turtle nest watch volunteers on Oak Island, hoping to catch a hatch. It never happened while we were there, but we walked away having learned so much about what these volunteers do to protect every nest. It's shaping up to be a big season for turtles across Brunswick County, so we put together a full guide on how to be a respectful visitor, what to do, what not to do, and why patience matters more than anything. This is Ride the Tide, our own three story retreat on Oak Island's canal, and the property that got us thinking there had to be a better way to book direct. It sleeps 10 across 5 bedrooms, with a private pool, dock access, two kayaks, and an elevator connecting all three floors.

Beach access is a five minute walk across the bridge at the end of 9th Street.

Now you can book it the way it should be booked. Direct, no fees.

Rain in the forecast? We've got you covered. We asked locals from Oak Island to Calabash what they actually do on a rainy day, and put it all together in our new Rainy Day Guide to Brunswick Beaches. Town by town picks for coffee, shopping, pottery painting, and more, plus a few honest "just relax and unwind" ideas too. Full guide, link in comments!
