Tonight the Omaha Stormchasers honored Deputy Brayden Artzer. Deputy Artzer was shot in the line of duty during a domestic violence incident in April. Deputy Artzer has returned to full duty and we are thankful for the community support that he received during his recovery.

First and foremost we would like to thank the members of the community that have offered our Deputy their thoughts after being injured today.

It’s seems that the Mayor’s rhetoric has come to fruition with the second shooting of a Deputy within a month.

Words have consequences. To call a professional law enforcement organization “An occupying army” has emboldened the criminal element of this city to declare war on the members of the DCSO.

Our organization has waited weeks to have a talk with John Ewing. But alas. He sits behind an ivory tower. Throwing political firebombs without regard for the fallout.

All the while amazing people continue to put their lives on the line to arrest those in this metro who would do their fellow man harm.

Missouri to Platte. Dutch Hall to Harrison. Our people are there to perform a duty many will never understand. With pride and integrity.

What an amazing save today by members of the Omaha Police Department.

Our members would once again commend the brothers and sisters of OPOA for their heroism and service.

Taking a life is not an easy decision. Those situations are tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving.

But tonight a family still has their young son alive and with them due to those officer’s selfless acts.

We would like to thank all of you in the community that reached out to us about our injured Deputy. He is stable and in good spirits. There will be more information in the coming days. At this time all that matters is our Deputy and the victims involved in this incident are okay.

The members of FOP 2 are perplexed at the recent comments by John Ewing regarding the DCSO being “an occupying army”. As much as hyperbole has crept into politics, we would like to remind him that the authorized strength of the DCSO is merely 150 sworn. Above that we serve the residents of Douglas County. Missouri to Platte. Dutch Hall to Harrison. Given the political connotation of his statement we would love to sit down with John Ewing and ask just exactly what he means by this bold and unwarranted statement. We would also call for him to apologize, however we won’t hold our breath that he will do so.

The members of FOP 2 will go to work everyday with honor and distinction like they have for the last 170 years and serve ALL members of Douglas county. Doing so with the community’s safety in mind.
