Michael and Gus have completed their official courtyard inspection, and Shark Reef Resort is ready for the long weekend! We still have Kings, Doubles, kitchen rooms and a few of our little casita cottages available.

Friday + Saturday:
🦈 King room: $388 + tax total
🦈 Double Queen: $428 + tax total

There is a two-night minimum for Friday and Saturday, and rates are based on double occupancy.

Nine years ago today, Hurricane Harvey made landfall.

And somehow, it still feels like yesterday.

I remember trying to hold everything together and be brave while waiting and wondering if we would even have a home -or a hotel - to come back to. Watching from afar as Harvey tore through our little island was one of the most helpless and stressful experiences of my life.

What came afterward, though, is something I will never forget.

Port Aransas came together.

Neighbors helped neighbors. Businesses helped each other. People showed up with food, supplies, tools, trailers, generators - whatever they had. We cried together, cleaned up together, rebuilt together, and somehow kept finding reasons to laugh together.

Shark Reef Resort was damaged, but we were still standing. And as Port Aransas began the long process of rebuilding, our rooms became temporary homes for local families who had lost or couldn’t return to their own homes yet.

For a while, we weren’t just a hotel. We were part of this strange little displaced community of people all trying to figure out what came next. I made my rounds every morning and evening, checking in on all 109 families.

Harvey changed Port Aransas forever. Some families never returned. Some businesses never reopened. Buildings disappeared, new ones took their place, and the island we came home to wasn’t quite the same island we’d left.

But the heart of this community survived.

Nine years later, I’m incredibly proud that Shark Reef Resort is still here. I’m proud of the people who refused to give up on this island, and I’m proud that we were able to fill even one small chapter of Harvey’s devastating story with a little bit of hope, shelter, community, and resilience.

Port Aransas rebuilt because people fought for it.

And nine years later, we’re still here. ❤️

🙈 Okay… who else waited until the last minute?

School starts Monday 😭, but there’s still time to sneak in one last beach trip before the summer officially ends.

Forget the laundry for a couple more days.
The school supplies will still be there Monday.

We’ve had several guests contact us within the past 24 hours after receiving emails pretending to be from Shark Reef Resort asking them to “verify” their reservation or payment information before arrival.

These emails were NOT sent by Shark Reef Resort.

Shark Reef Resort will never ask you to enter your credit card information through a link sent in an email or text message.

If you receive one of these emails:
❌ Do not click any links.
❌ Do not enter your payment information.

Instead, give our front desk a call at (361) 749-4255, and we’ll be happy to verify your reservation with you.

We’re actively working with our reservation provider to investigate this and appreciate everyone who has reached out to let us know.

Some of our favorite guests have been coming to Shark Reef Resort for generations.

We’ve watched families grow, traditions continue, and countless memories be made.

🚨 Important Policy Update at Shark Reef Resort

To continue providing a safe, clean, and family-friendly environment for all of our guests, we are updating our security deposit policy.

Effective immediately, any guest party that includes individuals age 18-25 will be required to:
✔️ Present a valid government-issued ID for each guest age 18-25.
✔️ Provide a $100 CASH security deposit per person at check-in.

The deposit is fully refundable at check-out after the room has been inspected.

There will be no exceptions to this policy.

This decision was not made lightly. After several serious incidents over the last few holiday weekends - including the theft and destruction of our golf cart - we have determined that this policy is necessary to help protect our guests, our staff, and our family-owned property.

We understand that the vast majority of young travelers are respectful, and this policy is simply one way we can continue welcoming guests while maintaining the standards that Shark Reef Resort is known for.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our family business over the years. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you to Port Aransas.

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from Shark Reef Resort! 🇺🇸

This island has changed a lot over the years, but we’re doing our best to hold onto the Port Aransas we fell in love with.

Cold drinks under the palapa, afternoons by the pool, hammocks in the shade, and neighbors becoming friends for the weekend.
