A little heart to heart from the person behind M. Johnson Illustration. ❤️
I love what I do. I love creating artwork that makes people smile, telling stories through illustrations, and making meaningful pieces for people to treasure.
But lately, I’ve been stretched pretty thin.
Between raising two boys, juggling multiple sports schedules, running a business entirely on my own, and trying to keep up with everything life throws our way, I’ve been struggling to find enough hours in the day.
And sometimes, I’m just plain exhausted.
To those who have been patiently waiting on custom projects, thank you. I know some things have taken longer than expected, and I’m genuinely sorry. Please know I’m working hard to fulfill my commitments, even if my timelines aren’t always what I’d hoped.
I’m not walking away from custom work. I’m simply learning to be more realistic about what I can take on.
I also have so many things I’m excited about, especially continuing to create uplifting illustrations, growing Dear Friend, and hopefully bringing several new mail clubs to life early next year.
I want to keep creating things that remind people they’re loved, appreciated, and not alone. That’s why I started sharing my artwork in the first place.
So this is me giving myself a little grace, adjusting expectations, and remembering that I’m a human being before I’m a business owner.
Thank you for being here, for supporting my work, and for allowing me to do something I truly love.
And if you’re feeling stretched thin yourself, I hope you’ll give yourself a little grace, too. ❤️
