Pioneering lighting solutions respecting the night

Stellar // Marfa, our dark sky summit, was an extraordinary opportunity for designers to step away from theory and engage directly with the principles that define dark-sky friendly design. One of the biggest barriers to dark sky principles going mainstream is education and awareness. When was the last time you saw constellations in your night sky? How about the Milky Way?

At Stellar // Marfa, we explored how lighting can enhance environments while still preserving the integrity of the night sky. Featuring interviews with lighting and landscape designers, a member of , an astronomer, and our own team, we’ve put together a short film to help raise awareness of the importance of dark sky preservation.

Short-tailed shearwater chicks are making their first 15,000 km flight from Phillip Island in Australia to the Aleutian Islands near Alaska.

Please support the shearwater migration
• Turn your lights off in the evening
• Consider using wildlife sensitive lighting at home
• Drive slowly and be cautious on the roads

Princeton University Art Museum serves as a welcoming cultural hub on campus. Pedestrian pathways flow into and through the museum, and at night, the illumination of the multi-level building guides pedestrians through moments of discovery and connection.

Tillotson Design Associates selected WE-EF’s in grade luminaire, the ETV140, for its ability to deliver precise optics with minimal glare, creating an artful wallwash around the museum’s ridged facade. The durability and easy maintenance of the ETV140 was also important to the university, especially for harsh, winter weather conditions.
