September 12th, 2026 celebrate 150 years of history, community, and connection at the Homestake Trail Volksmarch, a special event commemorating the 150th anniversaries of Lead and Deadwood. This collaborative celebration honors the shared heritage and enduring partnership between our neighboring communities while showcasing the natural beauty that connects them.

The Volksmarch features a scenic 3.5-mile hike along the Homestake Trail, a favorite route among local residents. Participants will begin at the Lead Dog Park/Homestake Trailhead in Lead and finish at the Mickelson Trailhead in Deadwood. Participants are also welcome to do the trail out and back for a 7 mile hike.
