🏕️🗺️ How I Planned Our Biggest Summer Adventure 🚙✨
Before I start sharing all the pictures from our biggest summer vacation yet, I thought I’d share a little about how this adventure came together—because a trip like this definitely didn’t happen overnight!
I started dreaming up and researching this trip in September 2025, almost a year before we left. I had to wait for my PTO to officially be approved through work before committing to anything, but by January 2026, the booking began!
One of the biggest things I’ve learned when planning a trip like this is to PLAN EARLY! It gives you the best selection of campgrounds, excursions, ferry times, and tickets—especially for experiences that sell out quickly during the summer.
🗺️ My #1 resource was Google Maps. I pinned everywhere we wanted to go, figured out realistic driving distances, searched for campgrounds, and then started connecting the dots. I would find one must-see place and then ask, “What else is nearby that we shouldn’t miss?”
📺 #2 was YouTube! I watched everything—travel videos, campground tours, scenic drives, hikes, ferry experiences, and other families traveling with RVs. It was so helpful to actually see places before deciding if they would work for us with three kids, a truck, and a camper.
Then came plenty of Googling, reviews, tourism websites, ferry schedules, National Park information, and lots of tweaking the itinerary.
Slowly, an idea that started in September turned into an adventure through Maine, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, and Acadia National Park. 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Moose, puffins, whales, lobster, lighthouses, mountains, ferries, sunsets, hikes, beaches…and so many memories. ❤️
It all started with a Google Map, a whole lot of YouTube videos, and one BIG idea. 🗺️🚙
Almost a year of planning—and worth every minute. ❤️
