The Senior Warden of our Lodge popped up in the September Edition of the Kansas Lodge of Research newsletter. Brother Mustakim has been leading a movement of intentional practices at our Lodge. He calls it "Applied Freemasonry" and it aims to use the symbols and lessons introduced through ritual to develop practical ways our members can be better people.

Huge thanks to Brother Baruti Kmt-Sisouvong for bringing my attention to this quote through his article about Dissonance in the 2020 Annual of "Fraternal Review," a leading Masonic publication profuced by the Southern California Research Lodge. It's a quote he pulled from an old copy of a Philalethes publication. It resonated with me on my flight home from Los Angeles where I was hosted by South Pasadena Lodge as part of their Illumination Lecture Series. While there, I was repeatedly blessed with examples of the divine flame that burns eternally at the core of our ancient Craft. The members of South Pasadena Lodge are both forward-thinking in their efforts to breathe renewed life into Masonry AND strictly adherent to some of Masonry's most crucial traditions. The photo attached is from the vestibule on the way into their Lodge Room prior to the lecture. I will be sharing more about my experience in South Pasadena but for now know this: SPL is a Lodge that truly encompasses the Masonic concept of a buzzing, productive, exciting beehive. Men of diverse backgrounds are coming together here and invigorating each other's pursuit of Light.

Sometimes, our Masonic tanks get low on fuel. If you're running low on Masonic energy, I urge you to consider visiting South Pasadena Lodge for an Illuminatoon Lecture or for their SPL MasoniCon later this year. You'll leave with a renewed and refilled spirit. I guarantee it.
