Today we recieved one of those calls. The kind we wish we never have to get, but are inevitable with life.

When we started the campground years ago (and even the service center 25 years ago) we never imagined the connections we’d form with our customers. We knew we’d have good interactions, but we didn’t know how much we’d come to love many of you.

We have had many customers we consider family since the start, and we were overwhelmed to grow that family with the start of Jackalope. None of us ever imagined seeing campers year after year- and eventually anticipating when we would get to see them in the summer.

One of those campers was Mark Reilly. He rolled in years ago, and we all came to love him shortly after. Mark took the time to visit us daily in the store, and bless us with hours of conversation. Every chat we had, he’d sit and listen, and then he’d drop an amazing story about his life or travels. He’d always end our conversations with asking us what we wanted for lunch, to which he’d return shortly after with the most beautiful salad, roasted chicken or brisket. Mark will hold the award for best salads in the world forever.

Our hearts are so heavy with the loss of our friend. Because he was more than just a customer to us. However, today we realize the privilege we have to know and love so many wonderful people. Business can be hard and there are days where we can get lost in what it means to be here doing what we do. Friends like Mark are our reason to continue, and we will forever be thankful for that blessing.

Visitors to our dog park may have noticed a tribute to Alf, our beloved campground dog, who passed away recently. His memorial is situated near the park, where we felt was most appropriate.

Today a seven-year-old guest left a painted rock to honor Alf. His grandmother told us he was concerned about his passing. He decided to leave one of his painted rocks.

These days it’s easy to feel drained and defeated, however kindest like this gives us the will to push through. You never know how much your actions can change someone.

We encourage everyone to live with kindness, and to take a moment to love like you’re seven years old again.

Making a friendly post to address the note we received over the weekend. A mystery guest pulled in and told us to fix our website because the number they called went to voicemail.

For future reference, it is posted clearly on the door twice and at the top of the website page. If you cannot reach us after hours please send us a TEXT and we will likely get to you within 30 minutes or less!

We are highly dedicated to ensuring each of you receives the service you need; especially on our off hours. While we are not available to answer phones, please do not hesitate to text us! Those go to our cells 24/7!

🤔 At Jackalope Campground you will find that we do things differently than normal.

😌 We strive to provide the best hospitality we can, while making camping as easy as possible for our guests.

🏕️ One of the ways we ensure this is allowing guest to choose their own sites! Some people have been a little upset about this, however there is good reason behind it!

💪🏻Jackalope is a family owned business run consistently by three people. We dedicate all of our time to this business and our customers. We ensure that we are available 24/7 to help with any of our guests booking, repairs AND parts. However with only three people, we have found that when we need to spend time with our families, it’s a lot to have to leave what we are doing to sort out people being in the wrong sites.

All of our sites are very similar! They are all full hook up, all big rig friendly, and all share the best Mountain View in Sheridan. We have found that guests love the ease of pulling into any site, and gives a little more free time to spend together as a family. ☺️

If you enjoy easy, breezy, stress free camping then this is the campground for you. We prioritize not only our family, but yours as well. After a long day, know that you have the ease of pulling in and unhooking to relax, unwind, and spend time with loved ones. 🫶🏻

Following the tragic death of Sergeant Nevada Krinkee of the City of Sheridan Police Department on February 13th, the City and our Police Department have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of support throughout our community, region, and state, including many partners around the country. We want to thank everyone for their heartfelt thoughts, prayers, and condolences.

The City is extremely grateful to the cities of Gillette and Casper for their immediate response yesterday in sending officers to augment our force and provide physical and moral support to our First Responders. It has never been clearer that when the chips are down in Wyoming, so many are available to step up to the plate. We are grateful. As of 9:00 am this morning, the situation is unresolved, but we have the right people managing the scene.

Our community has been deeply affected by this tragedy. We are resilient and continue to band together in this time of adversity.
