SERVICE OUTAGE NOTICE — THE COLONY 📞📶

Dear Colony Owners and Guests,

We are currently experiencing a Cox/Spectrum service outage that has temporarily affected both our telephone lines and internet service at The Colony.

Unfortunately, this means our office is unable to receive incoming phone calls or access the internet at this time.

Our service providers are working to resolve the issue, and we hope to have everything restored as quickly as possible.

We apologize for the inconvenience and truly appreciate your patience and understanding!

NEPTUNE FESTIVAL WEEKEND IS HERE!

If you're staying with us at The Colony Resort, you're in a GREAT spot to enjoy the festivities — but Saturday is definitely a park it and walk it kind of day! 🚶‍♀

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 – ROAD CLOSURES

Due to the Neptune Festival 8K and Grand Parade, much of Atlantic Avenue will be closed or have limited access from approximately 4:30 AM until 2:00 PM.

8K RACE
➡️ Limited closures begin around 4:30 AM
➡️ At 7:15 AM, Atlantic Ave. closes from 40th Street to Rudee Loop
➡️ Portions are expected to begin reopening around 11:00 AM

GRAND PARADE
➡️ 9:00 AM – 200 blocks of 5th–15th Streets close
➡️ 11:30 AM – Atlantic Ave. closes between 38th & 5th Streets
➡️ Roads are expected to reopen gradually through approximately 2:00 PM

Pacific Avenue will be the primary detour.

Use Waze for current traffic and road closures and VB Go for parking information.

HRT and the VB Wave Trolley are also great options for getting around without moving your vehicle.

THE COLONY TIP: If you're already parked — leave the car and enjoy the festival on foot!

We're located at 13th & Atlantic, putting our guests right in the middle of Neptune Festival fun.

Please allow extra travel time if you need to leave or return to the Oceanfront Saturday morning.

🚨 HAMPTON ROADS TRAFFIC ALERT — PLAN AHEAD! 🚨

If you’re traveling between Virginia Beach/Norfolk and Hampton/Newport News in October, heads up! The Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) is scheduled for several full weekend closures in one direction.

🚗 WESTBOUND toward Hampton
📅 Oct. 2 at 9 PM – Oct. 5 at 5 AM
📅 Oct. 9 at 9 PM – Oct. 12 at 5 AM

🚙 EASTBOUND toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach
📅 Oct. 16 at 9 PM – Oct. 19 at 5 AM
📅 Oct. 30 at 9 PM – Nov. 2 at 5 AM

⚠️ Expect significant traffic delays and backups. The Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel (I-664) is listed as the alternate route, but travelers should expect heavier-than-normal traffic there as well.

📣 PLEASE SHARE! This could make a BIG difference for anyone traveling to or from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on these weekends.

Plan ahead, leave extra time, and check current traffic conditions before heading out! 🚘🌊

We honor the innocent lives taken, the first responders who ran toward danger, the families forever changed, and all those who served and sacrificed in the days and years that followed.

Weather Safety Update ⚠️

For the safety of our owners, guests, and staff, The Colony's pool and the Virginia Beach oceanfront beaches are temporarily closed due to lightning and storms in the area.

Even if the weather appears to improve, we follow the 30/30 Lightning Safety Rule, which means the pool will remain closed until 30 minutes have passed since the last lightning strike or clap of thunder. If additional lightning or thunder occurs, the 30-minute timer starts over.

Please remember:

Do not enter the ocean or remain on the beach during thunderstorms.
The pool will reopen as soon as conditions are safe.
Continue to monitor the weather, as conditions can change quickly.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we put safety first. We know everyone is eager to get back to enjoying the beach and pool, and we'll reopen them as soon as it's safe to do so.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe, and we hope you continue to enjoy your stay at The Colony Resort.
