Freemasonry is a fraternity of worldwide brotherhood that traces its roots back to the stonemasons' guilds of medieval Europe, where skilled craftsmen gathered in lodges to share knowledge and socialize. The aim of this organization was mutual aid and protection for members who were often traveling great distances seeking work.
Freemasonry has evolved over time from being primarily an operative stonecutters’ guild into what it is today: speculative masonry – focusing on moral values such as Brotherly Love, Relief (Charitable Works), Truth & Temperance., while still maintaining many customs inherited directly from those ancient Craft Masons who laid our foundations.
