Let's throw it back this Thursday to spotlight the Ambassador Hotel Tulsa, Autograph Collection.

Built in 1929 by General Patrick Hurley, this 10-story Mediterranean Revival landmark was designed as upscale "extended stay" housing for oil barons awaiting their mansions during Tulsa's oil boom. After serving as an apartment hotel and later senior housing, the building closed its doors in 1987. Then, in 1995, Paul Coury purchased it and led a $5.5 million restoration, preserving its Italian terra cotta ornaments, limestone cornices, and Mediterranean architecture. The project became the first Ambassador Hotel, setting a clear direction toward luxury lifestyle hotels.

For the past three years, Somm Smackdown has been held at Hotel Vin Grapevine. This fall, we're expanding the ring to 4 properties across the Coury Hospitality portfolio.

Somm Smackdown is a three round wine competition, where Master Sommeliers go head-to-head over five course wine dinners, and every guest vote helps decide who advances toward the ultimate championship.

Round One kicks off September 24 at The National, Autograph Collection and Hotel Carmichael, Autograph Collection, each hosting its own showdown between two competing Sommeliers: David Reuss & Michael Jordan and Emily Pickral & Larry O'Brien
Round Two brings the winners together at Hotel Vin, Rogers, Autograph Collection, where a boxing ring takes center stage at our brand-new property for the next elimination.
The Championship crowns one Sommelier at Hotel Vin, Grapevine, Autograph Collection, where the winner from the previous round faces off against the reigning 2025 Somm Smackdown Champion, Jack Mason for the title.

Three rounds. Four hotels. One ultimate champion.

Congratulations to our very own Wynn Hukle on being named to Wichita State University's inaugural 35 Under 35! 🎉

This new recognition celebrates young Wichita State alumni making a leadership impact through innovation, service and a commitment to improving their communities.

Wynn is Vice President of Revenue Management Systems & Transitions for Coury Hospitality, where she leads pricing strategy, technology implementation and portfolio integration efforts. She's also active in philanthropy and alumni engagement, serving as treasurer of the Women of Wichita Charitable Foundation.
