KUTUBU COCOA INDUSTRY GAINS MOMENTUM UNDER MINISTER DR. BILLY MATHEW JOSEPH
1st May 2026
The Kutubu cocoa industry is getting a head start, driven by clear policy direction and genuine grassroots leadership from the Minister for Defence and Member for Nipa-Kutubu, Hon. Dr. Billy Mathew Joseph, MP.
For decades, Kutubu’s potential in cocoa remained untapped. Today, under Dr. Joseph’s leadership, that is changing. His policies are built on one principle: no one is left behind. From smallholder farmers in remote wards to youth and women’s groups, every household now has a pathway into the cocoa value chain.
Key initiatives rolling out across Kutubu include:
- Farmer training and extension support to improve yield and quality.
- Access to seedlings and tools for new and existing growers.
- Market linkages to ensure farmers receive fair prices for their Coco.
- Cooperative strengthening so communities can negotiate and sell as one.
This is not leadership from a distance. Dr. Joseph continues to walk with his people, listen to their needs, and turn policy into real impact on the ground. His approach is simple: empower the farmer, and you empower the nation.
The people of Kutubu commend Hon. Dr. Billy Mathew Joseph for his vision, humility, and commitment. With cocoa as a new pillar of our local economy, families are planting seeds of hope for a better future.
We are not waiting for change. In Kutubu, change is already growing — one cocoa tree at a time.
