There has been a lot of responses to AirBnBs recent policy changes. As a host, I want to address how it has affected us - not much.
We have never expected our guests to do our housekeepers work - that is what the cleaning fee is for, and our cleaning fees are set to cover their fair wage.
That said, we previously asked our guests to clean their dishes and the coffee pot. I still do not believe that is the responsibility of my housekeepers, but it’s no longer on our checkout list per the new policy.
We never required guests to take out the trash, but there is a dumpster on property so they don’t have to live with it.
We never required beds to be stripped. Our instructions were specifically to leave them on the beds, so housekeeper can inspect for stains.
We never required guests to gather towels or start laundry.
We believe most of our guests will continue to clean their dishes because it’s the courteous thing to do. It’s what we do before we leave AirBnBs.
