Did you know Troutbeck Resort turns 75 years this year?

In 1951, Troutbeck opened its doors here in the Nyanga mountains. 75 years later, a lot may have changed, but there is still something very similar about this place.

Over the next few months, we’ll be opening up the archives and sharing a little of what came before – from the early days of building, to the place so many of you know and love today.

And, of course, we couldn’t celebrate 75 years without a little something special…

Our 75th Anniversary Special:

A few days away with us at Troutbeck can be as full or as quiet as you want them to be.

Start with breakfast out on the Terrace, overlooking our gorgeous grounds, the lake and the mountains. Feel that gorgeous sunlight on your skin. Can we all agree, how breathtaking this setting is.

You might head out and explore Nyanga, spend a few hours around the hotel, or find yourself out on the lake for the afternoon. Stop for lunch somewhere in between, and when the day starts winding down, there is always a fire waiting to settle in beside.

Fill your days, or don’t, it’s entirely up to you.

There’s never really a bad time for a round of golf at Troutbeck… although we are a little biased. A spring morning with clear skies, birdsong and our gorgeous mountains in the background comes pretty close to perfect - in our books.

Nine holes, beautiful views and a bit of friendly competition never hurt anyone.

Now, who’s teeing off first? We’ll see you on the course.

September in Nyanga.

Although the mornings can still be cold enough for a layer or two, the days are getting longer, the afternoons are a little warmer, and spring is slowly starting to make its appearance.

A walk before breakfast, or a few hours sitting in front of the lake with no other plans at all, seem like the perfect date. There is no real reason to rush your mornings here either – remember, you are on holiday after all! The rest of the day can wait. You are on your own time.

… And if a few days away are sounding rather tempting, our Blue Swallow Lodges are US$250 per lodge, per night. Each lodge sleeps 4 adults + 2 children in the loft, so there’s plenty of room to bring the family along too.

There’s a reason we call it the Troutbeck Experience…

It’s not really one thing in particular. It’s waking up to those Troutbeck views, spending proper time with the people you love, having nowhere you desperately need to be, and somehow, before you know it, the day has filled itself.

Arrive with a list of things to do, or perhaps with nothing planned at all. Either works pretty well around here.

Some renovations are more than just changing how a space looks but how guests experience it. With our Executive Suite, we decided to change how the whole space functions.

As part of the restoration, we completely rethought the original layout. What was once the lounge and kitchenette has become a spacious bedroom with beautiful views of the lake and mountains beyond while the former bedroom that was tucked in the back of the suite has been transformed into cozy lounge area with a dry bar for that odd drink while you relax.

And what a difference a little rearranging can make.

The darker finishes have made way for softer colours, warm lighting and natural textures, allowing you to feel very much at home here.

The result is a suite that feels lighter, calmer and far more inviting, with plenty of room to properly settle in for a few days in the mountains.
