Some buildings simply exist in a city. Others become part of its skyline, its stories, its memory. Herrenhof is the second kind.

First opened in 1914, right in the heart of Vienna's 1st district, it opened its doors as Café Herrenhof: the literary café where Vienna's writers, thinkers, and artists gathered for decades, shaping the very culture the city is known for today. Its neoclassical façade has watched over the famous Herrengasse through empires, through war, through a hundred years of Viennese history unfolding just outside its windows. Inside, historic grandeur meets Art Déco detail, a design language that has barely aged a day.

Today, that history earns Herrenhof a new name. The seventh Steigenberger Hotel to carry the Icon title, and the first to bring that honour to Austria.

This isn't a rebrand. It's a building finally being called what it always was.
