Want to surprise your favourite person with an Albany weekend away? We’ve planned one of the days for you. You’re welcome. 😉

Start slowly with coffee and a walk by the water at Emu Point before heading out to The Gap and Natural Bridge. Even if you’ve seen them before, watching the Southern Ocean roll in never really gets old.

By then you’ll be ready for lunch, so make your way to The Barrel Farm, find something delicious to eat and settle in for a local b**r or w**e before heading back towards town.

Spend the afternoon exploring the National Anzac Centre, then call the sightseeing done for the day.

Pick up your favourite takeaway on the way back to Emu Point, get comfy in your room and enjoy the fact that neither of you has to cook, clean up or be anywhere else that night.

That sounds like a pretty great Saturday to us. 🐚

For some people, spring means warmer weather.

For others, it means grabbing the camera, pulling on the walking shoes and heading south to see what’s flowering 🌸

Wildflower season is such a beautiful time to explore the Great Southern, and half the fun is in the hunt. Head out for the day, wander the trails, keep an eye on the roadside and see what tiny bursts of colour you can find along the way.

Then come back to Emu Point, download the approximately 347 photos you took of flowers, put your feet up and start planning where you’re searching tomorrow.

If you’re visiting Albany for the wildflowers this spring, make a few days of it. There’s plenty waiting to be discovered.

Weekends do feel a little different at Emu Point.

Maybe it’s waking up without an alarm and heading towards the coast before you’ve really decided what the day looks like.

You might take the binoculars and see what you can spot along the way, head further afield in search of the wildflowers putting on their seasonal show, or simply grab a coffee and wander by the water with nowhere you need to be afterwards.

Then there are those weekends where you don’t really do much at all.

A long walk. Some fresh sea air. A quiet afternoon. An early night because you can.

Nothing particularly extraordinary happened, but somehow you head home feeling like you had exactly the weekend you needed.

We can tell you Emu Point is a great spot for exploring Albany, but it’s always nicer when our guests say it for us 🐚

“It’s a perfect location for exploring this pristine part of the world. It’s a short walk down to the beach, a quick drive or bus into town and a great base to explore the national parks from.”

And that pretty much sums up what we love about our little corner of Albany.

Close to the coast when you feel like a morning walk. Easy to get into town when you want to explore. Well placed for those bigger days out discovering the national parks and everything else the Great Southern has waiting.

Then somewhere quiet and comfortable to come back to afterwards.

Sometimes it’s the practical things that make being away from home so much easier.

Being able to make breakfast in your own kitchen instead of finding somewhere to eat every morning. Having parking right there when you come back after a full day exploring. Wi-Fi when you need it, and laundry facilities when you’ve somehow gone through twice as many clothes as you packed. 😂

They might not be the things you take photos of on your holiday, but they’re definitely the things you appreciate while you’re here.

How many days do you actually need in Albany?

Well… how long have you got? 😂

One day could be all about the coast, heading out to The Gap and Natural Bridge and keeping an eye out for whales along the way.

The next, pull on your walking shoes and explore a section of the Bibbulmun Track before rewarding yourself with a good lunch somewhere local.

Then there’s the National Anzac Centre, our beaches, lookouts, local food, w**eries and all those places you inevitably hear about once you arrive and think, “Okay, we need another day.”

That’s the thing about Albany. There’s always something else worth seeing.

So give yourself enough time to explore without racing through a checklist, and somewhere comfortable and quiet to return to when your legs have officially had enough for the day. 😂🐚
