Spring has arrived in Albany, and you can feel the change already 🐚

The days are getting a little longer, wildflowers are starting to put on their annual show and those sunny afternoons are making it very tempting to head down to the coast and stay there for a while.

It’s one of our favourite times to explore the Great Southern.

School holidays are coming, and if the thought of keeping everyone entertained at home for two weeks is already making you tired, we might have a better idea 😂

Pack the kids up and head to Emu Point, where the beach is just 200 metres from your room and there’s plenty of space to get outside, explore and burn off some of that school holiday energy.

Walk down to Emu Beach for a swim or follow the coast around to Emu Point, where you’ll find sheltered shallow water and playgrounds perfect for families. Back at the motel, there are games and sporting equipment in the BBQ gazebo, or you can pile everyone into the car and head off to explore Albany for the day.

And when everyone is finally exhausted? Come back to your comfortable self-contained room, sort out an easy dinner and call it a successful day.

School holidays made a little simpler. We think parents deserve that too 😉

Whale season might be heading towards its final stretch, but there are still opportunities to spot these incredible visitors as they make their way through our waters.

Pack the binoculars and head out to one of Albany’s coastal lookouts, or make a day of it and book a whale-watching tour to see if you can catch a glimpse from the water.

And if you’re not sure where to start, come and have a chat with us at reception. Our local team can point you towards some of the best places to try your luck while you’re here.

There’s something pretty special about standing on the coast, scanning the horizon and suddenly seeing that unmistakable splash in the distance.
