Well, it’s been nearly a year since we bought our little piece of paradise at Alva Beach Tourist Park, and what an incredible journey it has been so far. The best part is knowing that this is only the beginning.

We have poured so much of ourselves into this place—our time, energy, money and hearts—and we are incredibly grateful to the amazing people who have supported us along the way. To those who have helped make things a little easier, you know who you are. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

Like anything in life, we have experienced our fair share of ups and downs. Everything we do comes from our own pockets and from a genuine desire to make Alva Beach Tourist Park the very best it can be—not only for our guests and the community, but also for us, because this is where we live.

We have experienced criticism, complaints and some difficult moments, but we have also been shown incredible kindness, generosity and laughter. We have been lucky enough to be part of major birthdays, anniversaries and special celebrations, and we are so thankful to the people who have invited us to share those moments with them.

Along the way, we have met some truly wonderful people—and probably a few who will never come back! 😂 But that’s life, and you simply can’t make everyone happy, no matter how hard you try. We’ve been told the park “isn’t much,” and we’ve also been told it is absolutely beautiful. We’ve received complaints about fogging and complaints about not fogging early enough—even as recently as this morning! Just to reassure everyone, the products we use are safe around people; otherwise, we would never use them while people are present.

There is still a long way to go, but this journey has taught us a lot:

Keep putting everything we have into making this place better. Don’t let the little things get to us. Stay true to what makes Alva special. And most importantly, take the time to appreciate just how lucky we are to call this beautiful place home.

This isn’t just a job to us—it is our life. People pack up and go home after their stay, but this is our home, which is why we care so deeply and put so much into it.

For every negative review or unkind comment, there are so many more wonderful people who encourage us, support us and have fallen in love with Alva Beach Tourist Park and everything Alva has to offer. Those people make it all worthwhile.

We aren’t a massive, corporate-owned park with endless funds or a huge operational team. We don’t have fancy shops and cafés right next door—and that’s exactly what makes Alva so special. It is peaceful, beautiful and unspoilt, with endless fishing opportunities when the fish are biting, and the perfect place to disconnect from the world, slow down and relax.

To everyone who has stayed with us, thank you. To those who have been coming back for years, thank you for your continued support. To those who have stopped in but decided it wasn’t quite your cup of tea, thank you for giving us a chance. And to those who have made it clear they won’t be returning—thank you too, because you have pushed us to work even harder and continue improving.

When you stay here, you aren’t just visiting a business—you are being welcomed into our home. That is why it means so much to us.

Thank you to every person who has supported us, encouraged us, laughed with us and helped make this journey so special.

We are incredibly grateful. 🤩❤️😘
