I’M GOING TO SCREAM THIS FROM THE ROOFTOPS….. WE’RE FINALISTS AGAIN!!

Outback Farm - Athelle Outback Hideaway has been named a FINALIST in the 2026 Brolga Awards for Hosted Accommodation for the second year running!! Those of you in the tourism industry know just how prestigious it is to win a Brolga. Those of you who’ve put an application together know the HOURS, DAYS and WEEKS that go into pulling one of these applications off and those who know me personally know just how bloody much this means to me!
We’ve built Athelle from the ground up, poured our hearts, souls, blood, sweat and tears into it and continue to push ourselves to create something special out here in the middle of the Territory. To have that hard work recognised at this level is something I’ll never take for granted.

But now… 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼LET’S BRING THAT TROPHY HOME ON THE 14/11!! 🏆

An that’s a wrap for 2026. Bookings are now closed for this tourism season. It’s been a tough year but we are still here with 2027 looking to be a better one! I NEVER thought I’d see the day when my truck companions would be 3 tiny kittens!!

You honestly won’t believe this… We left my truck and trailers at a station while we headed back to Athelle to make hay. A couple of weeks later, we came back, jumped in the truck and drove a bloody long way down the road…

Then suddenly…

🐾 PLOP.

Out pops the tiniest little head from underneath one of the containers on my trailer. Then another. And another.

THREE TINY KITTENS! 🤦‍♀️😂

Anthony’s first thought was… well, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly “awww, how cute!” But there was absolutely NO WAY Theo and I were letting that happen.

So here we are… driving around the country, hand-raising 3 baby kittens on the road. 🍼🐱🐱🐱

And yes, they’re coming home with us to Athelle to become the newest residents. Because apparently we needed 3 more mouths to feed and 3 more personalities to add to the circus! I grew up with a cat as my only pet and after hand-raising more than 14 different species of farm animals, these 3 little stowaways have absolutely hit the jackpot. P.S. Fortunately for us we’ve had over 40mm of rain overnight & today but unfortunately for guests wanting to stay with us cause we’ll have to shut the gate for a couple of days in order to let the road in dry up. The suns out now so should only be closed for a day or so. We will make contact with those that have booked & anyone wanting to come in please call first for an update. On the other hand the ducks are having the time of their lives! 🤣🫶🏻🦆

Introducing our newest baby to Athelle, Shirley May. Named after my late nanna, one of my most favorite people in my life who I love & miss so much! She loved all my animals, well all animals in general & would ask after them all the time. She’d be honored to have one of my babies named after her. We can’t wait for you all to meet her. 🫶🏻🐄🥰

Our baby has arrived at Athelle. How lucky are we to welcome this gorgeous little girl onto our farm. Both her mum, Snowhite & dad, Richard were some of the first lot of calves born at Athelle & hand raised by Danyelle ‘Giddy Up’ Haigh. Now they’ve had their own little baby for us all to love. Now we need your help… what shall we call her??? Send us your ideas. 🫶🏻🐄
