Childers Ecolodge After 13 years Chders Ecolodge is closed permanently. Time for new adventures... Our custom built hostel is designed to minimise our impact on the environment.

We offer an Australian countryside experience with all the comfort of brand new facilities; separate kitchen/dining/tv block; separate shower/toilet block. Sustainable technologies include composting toilets which don't use water; rainwater collections and grey water treatment onsite; solar power and energy efficient electrics; design to maximise the natural breeze; recycling and organic gardening.
28 acres to spread out, relax and explore including farm animals, pets and Australian wildlife passing through - spot the wallabies and kangaroos and native parrots. We organise fruit and vegetable harvest work on local farms - a great way to earn some more travel funds and count towards your 2nd year International Working Holiday Visa.

Childers Ecolodge is closing on 28th September, 13 years after opening our doors with 26 beds and a dream!
We have hosted over a thousand people from around the world, some for a short while, many for a long time. Most satisfying is hearing how people have made life long friends and memories during their time at the Ecolodge.

Happy Birthday to us! 12 years ago the Ecolodge was opened with a dream, a whole lot of red dirt an not a guest on site. Today we have 12 years of stories to tell, and hundreds (thousands?) of people have stayed making lifetimes of memories and friendships.
We love hearing from past guests, where they have ended up, and of the way their Ecolodge experience has influenced their lives, and loves ❤️

Hostel dog Mango has an apprentice - meet Bobcat! He's a blue stumpy tail Australian Cattle Dog. He'll be learning how to greet people arriving, show them around and generally hang out.

Mango as a puppy had fun stealing everyone's shoes - that's not a lesson Bobcat needs to learn!!
