From the Studio of Solitary Islands ART House on the traditional country of the Gumbaynggirr Nation land, to the Gallery: The Making of "Pondering the Possibility of Otherness" after Anish Kapoor 🔴🎥
I am so incredibly proud to share this behind-the-scenes look at my latest work, marking my official re-emergence into the contemporary art world.
This short film documents the intense, deeply rewarding process of responding to Sir Anish Kapoor’s iconic masterwork, Hollow (2012) which is on loan to Grafton Regional Gallery from The National Gallery of Australia.
As you watch the film, you will see how this piece transitions from a flat Tondo oil painting on a 30cm canvas into a living, dimensional installation.
By integrating a fragile, 6cm 3D-printed digital twin of myself directly onto the canvas, the work explores Kapoor's philosophy of "pondering the possibility of otherness."
Under the moving gallery lights, the miniature figure and the 1cm floating wall-mount cast deliberate, shifting shadows—blurring the line between physical presence and psychological absence.
The mission is complete! The work has been safely delivered to the wonderful team at the Grafton Regional Gallery for the upcoming ‘Hollow: In the Round’ exhibition opening Saturday 10th October 2026.
Thank you all for walking this creative path with me as I step back into the studio.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the video below!
