We are absolutely delighted to welcome members of an international astro‑photography club. 🥳They’ve escaped Japan’s annual rainy season, known as Tsuyu, to enjoy the beautiful Southern night sky here in Australia.

The delicious winter gems — persimmons. 🍂😋This is the time of year we always look forward to, enjoying one of our most loved fruits. We’re lucky to have a wonderful local grower, Terry’s Sweet Persimmons in Applethorpe, where we buy plenty of beautifully tree‑ripened persimmons through May and June. They’re incredibly sweet and full of flavour.

We’re also growing our own persimmon trees, and they’ll be planted out once the frosty mornings have passed.

The Fornax Cluster & the magnificent barred spiral galaxy NGC 1365. 🤩Our long‑time guest, Mr Ichiro Itagaki, captured these beautiful images during his stay with us last month. It’s a wonderful reminder of how rich and dynamic the southern sky truly is.

先月お越し頂いた常連の板垣　一郎様が、南天の夜空が持つ豊かさと奥深さを改めて感じさせてくれる作品を寄せて下さいました。ろ座銀河団とその中でひときわ存在感を放つ棒渦巻銀河 NGC1365の美しい写真です。夜空に散りばめられた宝石のような銀河たち、そして長い腕を優雅に広げるNGC1365がとても繊細に表現されています。😇✨

板垣様のコメント：「オーストラリア滞在6晩目の最初に西に傾くろ座銀河団を撮影しました。日本では撮影が難しい対象です。ろ座銀河団の中で美しい棒渦巻銀河であるNGC1365をピックアップしました。見かけの直径が 11 分角あるので430ｍｍの焦点距離で撮影しても特徴的な形状がわかります。」

🌌 Tarantula Nebula captured with our 40cm Dobsonian 🕷️
Our guest Mr Chikayoshi Murotani photographed the Tarantula Nebula using our 40 cm Dobsonian telescope in prime focus during his stay last month. Instead of the fierce “tarantula” look, the nebula appears delicate and elegant—almost like a flower.

先月滞在された室谷　周良様が、当ゲストハウスの貸出用望遠鏡、40cm反射ドブソニアンを使い、直焦点で撮影した「タランチュラ星雲」です。毒雲のタランチュラというより、彼岸花のような美しく繊細な様子が見事に表現されています。🌟

室谷様のコメント：「星雲の周囲には大マゼラン銀河内の球状星団や散開星団、散光星雲が多数写っています。ポンセットマウントによる自動追尾撮影のため、10秒露光した画像のうち追尾が成功したもののみをコンポジットしています。タランチュラ星雲は非常に明るく、40cmドブソニアンを使い眼視で100倍程度の倍率で眺めると星雲のディテールが立体的に迫ってきてすごい迫力です。」

神奈川県藤沢市から一番ケ瀬様ご夫妻をお迎えしました。前回の2024年6月に続き、２度目のご訪問です。天体撮影と観望はもちろん、周辺の散策も楽しんでいらっしゃいます。ランチのお気に入りは Stanthorpe Thai Restaurant のRed Curryとのこと。😋今回も素敵な思い出がたくさんできますように。🥳

A full‑sky masterpiece captured with a fisheye lens. 🌌 Our guest Mr Yoshiyuki Tsuji took this stunning photo last month —showing the Milky Way, Southern Cross, Magellanic Clouds, zodiacal light, and the faint glow of the rising Sun. A truly heart‑cleansing image.

先月ご宿泊頂いた辻　祥行様が、魚眼レンズを使って撮影された全天写真です。天頂の銀河系中心部から南十字星、南の低空には周極星となった大小マゼラン雲、東には黄道光。その東の低空には上りつつある太陽の微光が写っています。心が洗われるようなとても美しい画像です。😇

A happy group of friends joined us from Brisbane over the Labour Day long weekend. 👫👭 Alexander, Wan Yin, Mansi and Celine (pictured left to right) made the most of their stay with a climb to the Pyramid at Girraween National Park, plus visits to Tenterfield and Stanthorpe. Thank you all for choosing Twinstar — we loved having you here. 😊

Winter night scape at Oku-Nikko, Japan. ❄️🌌Our regular Japanese guest, Mr Kenichiro Seki kindly shared this beautiful award-winning photo, which captures a frozen lake beneath the serene winter night sky of Oku‑Nikko.

常連の天体写真愛好家、関　謙一郎様から日本の冬景色を捉えた素敵な写真を送って頂きました。天文雑誌「星ナビ」の今月号に入選した作品です。氷結した奥日光の湖面と冬の星空が美しく、凛とした佇まいを感じます。近くの温泉に宿泊され、ほっこり温まってから徒歩で撮影ポイントに向かわれたそうです。星空と温泉、最高ですね。✨♨️😇

A new Thai restaurant in Stanthorpe — Chuda's Cafe & Restaurant.
A vibrant addition to the Main Street dining scene, Chuda's (formerly Little Pomme) now serves freshly made hot and cold drinks, home‑baked cakes, and delicious Thai dishes for both lunch and dinner. Takeaway is available too. The dishes in these photos are Pad Thai and Chicken Roti — yum! 😋

Three astro‑photographers from Japan are visiting us, enjoying perfectly clear skies and ideal conditions for astro-photography every night. ⭐📷

日本から天体写真家の３名様をお迎えしました。🤩写真左から室谷　周良様、板垣　一郎様、辻　祥行様です。ご滞在初日から連日、雲ひとつない快晴で、気温も約5〜27℃ と快適。天体撮影と観望を満喫しておられます。今年は干ばつ気味で住民としては雨が欲しいところですが、天体愛好家の皆様には最高のお天気が続いています。☀️
