Amazing Deep-Sky Images by Mr Colin Ward. 🌌 Our guest, Colin, captured these stunning deep-sky images during his stay with us in early September.

🔹 Horsehead & Flame Nebula (top)⬆️: Captured using an Askar FMA135 and ZWO ASI2600MC camera. Colin recorded 17 × 120-second exposures at a gain of 360.

🔹 Dumbbell Nebula M27 (bottom left) ↙: Colin described this image as "a bit of a challenge" through an older Meade LX50 10-inch f/10 SCT. Using a ZWO ASI1600MM cooled camera with an OIII 7nm filter, he captured 129 × 120-second exposures at a gain of 360.

🔹 South Celestial Serpent (bottom right) ↘️: Captured with a ZWO ASI2600MC Duo and Askar FMA135 astrograph. Colin recorded 180 × 120-second exposures at a gain of 360, for a total integration time of six hours.

We thank Colin for sharing these remarkable images and wish him clear skies for many more nights of astrophotography. 🥳

Guest Astrophotography Showcase 📷✨Our guest, Mr Greg Lamb, captured these great deep-sky images of the Orion Nebula (M42) ↙️ and the Sculptor Galaxy (NGC 253) ↘ using a Dwarf 3 telescope during his family's stay with us on 9-10 October.

After their stay, Greg's family kindly wrote: "Thank you once again for a wonderful stay. The bento box was extremely tasty. We'll see you again!" We sincerely thank them for their return visit and for sharing these amazing photos. 😊

What a transformation. 🌿💐After July’s drought declaration and months of dry weather, the recent rain has worked wonders. Our garden is vibrant again — fresh greens, new colour, and that feeling of life returning.

We’re truly grateful for the 26 mm we’ve received over the past few days. Fingers crossed for more follow-up rain.🤞

Welcoming Familiar Faces 💁💁‍♂️ Shikiko & Mark (pictured) have been our long‑term guests since 2009, and it’s always a joy to see them return. On this 5th visit, they explored natural granite formations of Donnelly’s Castle near Pozieres, stopped by Sam’s Farm Fresh Fruit & Veg in Cottonvale, and enjoyed their favourite Japanese Dinner Box here at Twinstar. 🍱 We’re truly grateful for loyal repeat guests like this wonderful couple. 😊

Asian food & drinks in Stanthorpe 🍜 AH Kitchen & Cafe is a relatively new addition to the local dining scene, and it’s quickly gaining popularity. The dish pictured is their delicious Karaage Chicken Teri‑mayo Don ($19.50) — crispy and juicy chicken! They also offer ramen, takeaways, and a range of matcha‑based drinks. If you’re in Stanthorpe next time, why not give them a try?

School holiday fun! 😸 We are so delighted to welcome two friendly families here at Twinstar. They enjoyed exploring our fantastic national parks — Girraween and Bald Rock — and made the most of the beautiful Granite Belt outdoors. We’re sure they’ll take home plenty of wonderful memories. 😊

What an incredible temperature swing yesterday — from a frosty 2°C at dawn to a hot 30°C by afternoon. 😲The weather has stayed continuously sunny ☀️☀️☀️and extremely dry, and nearby bushfire smoke turned the Sun an eerie orange. Rain would be a very welcome change — fingers crossed it arrives soon. 🤞

From the striking deep blue sky in the daytime 🏠 to the star‑filled darkness above the domes at night 🌌, Ballandean never stops showing its beauty. Our guest, Mr Yuichi Ichikawa, captured these stunning sky images during his stay in August.

市川様のコメント：夜半前に天頂付近を通過したさそり座は、頭を下にして逆さまに沈んでいく。超広角レンズが捉えた天の川とその両岸には、左からケンタウルス座のβ星（青色）とα星（黄色）、さそりの毒針シャウラ（青色）、いて座の南斗六星、そして右端のわし座のアルタイル（青色）まで、日本の夏を代表する星座が一直線に並ぶ。さらに時間が経過すると、天の川は西から南の地平線をぐるりと取り巻くように輝く。日本では低空の星はまず見えないが、空の暗いオーストラリアでは地平線すれすれまで天の川や星々が見える。

The ongoing dry weather means clear, star‑filled nights — ideal for their astro‑photography adventures.
