Congratulations to Binna Burra Director Neil Scales OBE!

We're pleased to share the news that Neil has been appointed Interim Chair of the Tourism & Transport Forum Australia (TTF), the national peak body representing Australia's tourism, transport, aviation and investment sectors.

Neil's appointment recognises his extensive leadership experience and comes at an important time for Australia's tourism industry.

Not every visit to Binna Burra needs an itinerary. Sometimes it’s enough to drive up the mountain, choose a walk when you get here, stop for lunch, watch the wildlife and see where the day takes you.

There are plenty of adventures to be had at Binna Burra, but there’s also something to be said for not rushing any of them.

2032 has gone a little cockatoo. And we approve. 🦜

The newly revealed Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic emblems feature a Pink Cockatoo for the Olympics and a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo for the Paralympics. A very Queensland choice!

Here at Binna Burra, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos are familiar visitors, while the vulnerable Glossy Black-Cockatoo can also be spotted around areas including Ships Stern and Daves Creek.

And here’s a nice bit of timing: Brisbane 2032 will be followed by Binna Burra’s centenary in 2033.

From cockatoos on the mountain to the world arriving in Queensland, there’s plenty to look forward to.

Seven years after the devastating 2019 bushfires, a new chapter begins at Binna Burra Lodge.

We're thrilled to announce that bookings are now open for our new Lodge accommodation, with the first overnight guests arriving on 13 November 2026!

The lodge is new. The legacy continues. The welcome returns.

A new permanent landmark now stands at the entrance to the new Binna Burra Lodge.

On 28 September, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, formally dedicated the Binna Burra Resilience Rock, recognising the strength, solidarity and enduring connection between people, place and nature.

The rock will remain as a visible reminder of Binna Burra’s journey through recovery and rebuilding, and of the community that has helped shape what comes next.
