Hi folks! It’s time for Tanya and I to get ready for our next adventure.. we are driving our sh*tbox from Cairns to Darwin this winter!
For those of you who don’t know this is a charity run raising money for cancer research.
Most of us have been affected by someone having cancer, and it seems this year it was my turn. At the end of November last year I felt a lump in my breast and got it all checked out, and two days before Christmas I got the dreaded news you have breast cancer.
My world stopped! I was in denial and disbelief I’m a 45 year old mum of two kids and felt strong and healthy.
I have kept this news off social media to focus on healing and with the support of my closest family and friends, I undertook 6 rounds of brutal chemo,
Surgery, 15 rounds of radiation and I’m continuing immunotherapy to Jan.
I also kept a positive attitude, undertook every alternative treatment and woo woo remedy I could find, and was determined to hear those words.. you have achieved PCR (pathological complete response)!!
And I did it, I kicked cancers but!
The treatment was brutal, my friends and family looked after me, my kids, ran my farm and business, gave me space when needed and were there for me in my hardest days. I am one lucky woman!!
What I’ve learnt or been reminded through this
Experience
I’m not invincible and it can happen to anyone
Time is super precious and to not sweat the small things
Wrap those kids and those you love up closer!
My mates have always got my back and I’m super greatful for the humans around me
Self care and love should be a priority
I’m sending loads of love and thoughts to those who are still battling, you got this!
