Oh, the joys of staying in the Southern Highlands!

One of the things we love most about this beautiful region is that a little country drive can lead to something rather delicious!

Just 10 minutes from Cherry Cottage, in the gorgeous historic village of Berrima, you’ll find PepperGreen Estate.

W**e tasting? Absolutely. 🍷

A leisurely lunch? Even better.

Delicious food, beautiful wines and the sort of atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay a little longer.

And the drive there? Pretty country roads and gorgeous scenery. Really, what’s not to love?

There’s clearly been some funny business going on in the Cherry Cottage garden…

Another bunny has appeared, and we’re starting to wonder just what they get up to when nobody’s watching! 🐰🐰

But that’s quite alright. Cherry has always had a soft spot for quirky garden residents, and there’s plenty of room for one more.

The roses are pink, abundant and putting on quite the show!

Just look at them!

Climbing over the verandah, tumbling through the garden and filling the air with that gorgeous rose fragrance.

Now, can you picture yourself sitting right here? Your favourite person beside you, a glass of something delicious in hand, and absolutely nowhere you need to be.

Perhaps a little conversation. Perhaps a lot of comfortable silence.

I think Cherry has the right idea about how life should be enjoyed, don’t you?

The only thing better than a lovely review? Guests who have already booked to come back!

And that’s exactly what these gorgeous guests have done - they’ve booked their return visit for the same time next year!

There’s something so special about that.

We put so much love into making sure our guests feel welcomed, comfortable and thoroughly spoilt during their stay. From the little touches to the big ones, it all matters to us.

So when guests leave us such beautiful words, and then choose to come back and do it all again, well… that’s the biggest compliment we could possibly receive 🩷

Oh, Cherry. Just look at you! 🌸🌹

The gardens have had a little tidy-up, thanks to the wonderful team Stanton Stonework & Landscaping - and goodness me, she’s looking gorgeous!

The roses have started to bloom, with so many more still to come. The arbours are draped in flowers, and there’s colour and fragrance around every corner.

She’s gentle. She’s pretty. She’s fragrant. And she has that lovely, slightly wild cottage garden charm that I adore.

There’s something so special about wandering through her gardens at this time of year. Every day brings another little surprise.

And the best bit? She’s only just getting started 🩷

Cherry, you really are a beautiful old girl.

Watch out! Ducks about! 🦆🦆🦆

Oh, how I love the Southern Highlands!

It’s not just the gorgeous little towns and villages, the beautiful countryside or the wonderful people. It’s the way we share this beautiful part of the world with its many feathered, furry and four-legged residents.

I spotted this sign in Berrima today and it made me smile.

At this time of year, Mumma ducks and their fluffy little ducklings are everywhere. Wandering about, crossing roads and generally going about their business without a care in the world.

And apparently, absolutely no understanding of road rules!

I love that our little communities look out for them. A gentle reminder to slow down, take care and remember that we’re sharing their home too.

Just another little reason why I love living in the Southern Highlands 🩷

So if you’re visiting our beautiful region, keep an eye out for the locals. Some of them have feathers, webbed feet and absolutely no road sense! 🦆

Tell the truth, ladies… do you have a cushion obsession? 🤭

I’ll admit it. I do. And I’m not even slightly ashamed!

I simply cannot resist a beautiful cushion. The colours, the textures, the patterns… and just when I think I have enough, another one catches my eye.

How many cushions does one woman (or one cottage!) actually need?

Do I need an intervention? Or is this perfectly normal behaviour?

☔️ You can’t rain on Cherry’s parade!

Even on the greyest, rainiest days, Cherry Cottage has a way of looking absolutely beautiful. Her gardens glisten, the colours seem richer, and there’s something rather magical about watching the rain fall from the comfort of a warm, cosy cottage. 🩷

And cosy she certainly is!

With hydronic heating, air conditioning and a gorgeous gas fire, Cherry knows how to keep her guests snug.

Her library is filled with books and board games, perfect for a lazy afternoon indoors. And for those who still love a little fresh air? Her fully covered back verandah, complete with Bromic heater, means you can enjoy the gardens and the sound of the rain without getting wet.

Rain, hail or shine, Cherry is a delight in every season.

And it seems word is getting out! Our calendar is filling up beautifully, so if you’ve been thinking about a little Southern Highlands escape, now might be the perfect time to book.

There’s a new girl in the backyard at Cherry Cottage! 🐰

And isn’t she beautiful?

Our latest piece of garden art has hopped into her new home, adding just a little more charm and quirkiness to Cherry’s beautiful gardens.

But there’s one small problem… she doesn’t have a name!

And we simply can’t have that, can we?

Meet Jerry, Cherry Cottage’s resident dog! 🐾

He’s a little too big to live inside the Cottage, so he’s claimed a permanent spot in the back garden instead.

He’s incredibly well behaved, never barks, never digs up the garden and is quite happy to sit patiently in the same spot, day in, day out.

The perfect house guest, really! 😂

And devilishly handsome, don’t you think?

Just another little touch of Cherry Cottage’s quirky personality.
