If you're staying with us at BIG4 Bridgetown this weekend, you're in luck! The Bridgetown River Markets are happening Sunday 25 October, right next door to the park!

Set beside the beautiful Blackwood River, these lovely local markets are the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning. Browse handmade crafts, discover local produce, grab a coffee and soak up that wonderful country town atmosphere.

No need to jump in the car, just wander over from your campsite or accommodation and enjoy a little taste of Bridgetown life! 💚

💙 The girls behind the blue wrens! 💙

We've recently shared our gorgeous male splendid fairy-wrens showing off their brilliant blue breeding colours, but what about the girls?

While the boys get all the attention with their flashy blue feathers, the females are just as lovely in their own understated way!

Female splendid fairy-wrens keep their soft brown and grey colouring all year round, with a beautiful blue-grey tail and a reddish-brown bill. They might not be as eye-catching as the males, but they're every bit as important!

Next time you're wandering around BIG4 Bridgetown, keep an eye out for these little ladies hopping through the gardens and bushes. They're easy to overlook when their bright blue partners are stealing the show!

💙 Our little blue beauties are back! 💙

It's that time of year when our gorgeous local fairy-wrens start showing off their brilliant blue feathers!

As breeding season arrives, many male splendid fairy-wrens swap their more subtle brown plumage for stunning shades of electric blue. And they're certainly not shy about showing it off!

If you're staying with us at BIG4 Bridgetown, keep your eyes peeled! These cheeky little locals can often be spotted darting through the gardens and bushes around the park.

It might be little, but our bright blue reception is where every Bridgetown getaway begins!

And behind our little blue reception you’ll often find our mother/daughter duo, Colleen and Kara. 👋

Pull in, pop in and say hello. They’ll get you checked in, point you in the right direction and help with everything from local recommendations to ideas for exploring beautiful Bridgetown.

Kara is our resident “Checklist Queen”, making sure everything is just right and every guest arrives and leaves with a smile. Colleen is the original caravan park guru, with years of knowledge under her belt, plus she grows a pretty mean veggie garden! And, of course, she taught Kara everything she knows. 😉

🌿 We are now in the Noongar Season of DJILBA 🌼

Djilba is a beautiful time of transition, when cold, clear days begin to mix with warmer weather and the first signs of spring start appearing across Country.

Here in Bridgetown, you can see the landscape beginning to change. The countryside is still lush and green from the winter rains, wildflowers are starting to emerge, new growth is appearing through the bush and our local birdlife is becoming increasingly active.

It’s a beautiful time to explore Bridgetown, take a walk, paddle along the river, head out for a drive or simply slow down and notice the changing season around you. 🌿

Spring isn’t just bringing the flowers back to Bridgetown, our local birdlife is getting busy too!

With the Blackwood River, surrounding bushland and beautiful green countryside, Bridgetown is a wonderful place to slow down, look up and see who’s about.

Keep your eyes peeled for colourful locals including splendid fairy-wrens, red-winged fairy-wrens, western rosellas, red-capped parrots, honeyeaters, robins and cockatoos, along with plenty of waterbirds around the river.

💙 Spring is also breeding season for many species, so you might even spot a male fairy-wren showing off his spectacular breeding colours.

Grab the binoculars, take a wander along the river and see how many feathered locals you can find during your stay at BIG4 Bridgetown.
