We are removing the jarrah floorboards in the three remaining bar areas so that we can install plumbing and concrete floors.

We discovered that work on the ‘ladies parlour floor’ had been undertaken a decade or more ago. Evidence- foil peanut packaging’ (see photo)

There were also pine beams installed to replace white ant damaged timbers. White ants have certainly enjoyed a free feed during the past few decades.

We are removing the floor boards because we need to install a stainless steel floor for the new coolrooom.

We cannot periodically treat the existing flooring after the Coolroom is installed.

Rather than tempt fate with a new infestation of white ants we are removing their appetiser, main course and dessert.

The main corridor has been given an amazing facelift with a new colour scheme. We have dressed her with beautiful ornate mirrors which were sourced via an auction approximately 18 months ago.

I have been waiting patiently to have them installed. All mirrors were safely hung by Shaun yesterday.

We are looking pretty special. The coolest thing is the infinity effect that has been achieved by hanging the mirrors directly opposite each other.

We are painting our entry hall. It is a big job. The area includes the walls leading up to the landing on the second floor.

We are filling all of the walls where numerous nails and screws have been installed over the past decades to hang pictures and patching the timber frames and doors where they have been dented and chipped.

Everything is being sanded back so that we can apply the new paint to smooth surfaces and not over 10+ decades of previously painted surfaces.

We have decided on green walls and white timber trims and doors. The area will present as clean, bright and refreshing.

A few months ago we discovered that a door frame was badly damaged by termites. The only thing holding it together was the many coats of paint that had been applied to the timber frame over many decades.

The door frame held the half door and servery window that separated the hallway and dining area from the bar areas. The door and surrounding framework was not part of the original timber work.

Check out the latest photos. The new doors are in. They are absolutely stunning.
