This poem was sent to me by ladies who have just stayed at Sew Delightful
🧵 The Sew Delightful A–Z Retreat 🧵
Seven ladies, seven days? Well… almost!
A is for adventures and alphabet fun,
Seven creative ladies escaping for some!
B is for Burra, Sew Delightful our place,
With projects and fabrics and plenty of space.
C is for colourful creations galore,
Bags, beads and quilts—and then starting some more!
D is for ducks who escaped to the dam,
While hubby at home yelled, “Oh, bloody hell, ma’am!”
E is for eating, the scrumptious food spread,
We ate, laughed and sewed till we nearly dropped dead!
F is for fabric—but one rule stood proud:
DON’T LOOK AT ANYTHING BROWN! We shouted out loud!
G is for gorgeous projects underway,
Some finished, some started, some packed away.
H is for hilarity, stories and cheer,
The sort of good company we all hold dear.
I is for inspiration, popping up everywhere,
In quilts, clever colours and crafty ideas to share.
J is for Jamestown, our next retail spree,
Another quilt shop—just where we wanted to be!
K is for kookaburras? Well, maybe not seen,
But plenty of laughter kept spirits serene!
L is for lots of retail therapy too,
Because quilters know exactly what retail can do!
M is for mischief, and memories made,
And moments of madness that never will fade.
N is for needles, and notions and thread,
And “Where did I put that?” was frequently said!
O is for oops! when things didn't quite fit,
But nothing a seam ripper couldn't fix!
P is for patches, pinned proudly on boards,
And projects that somehow produced no rewards!
Q is for quilting, our reason to flee,
Seven sewing sisters as happy as can be.
R is for retail, oh what a delight—
At Burra Quilt Shop we shopped with delight!
A quilting adventure with stories to tell!
S is for sewing, of course, day and night,
With binding and beads and creations just right.
T is for tea, and treats on the side,
And talking and laughing with nowhere to hide.
U is for unpicked seams—oh, the despair!
“Surely that wasn't supposed to happen there!”
V is for videos sent from back home,
Of cats being cared for while their mum chose to roam!
W is for wonderful women, all seven in line,
With laughter, creativity and friendships divine.
X is for Xtra fabric we simply had to buy,
Because every good quilter has a reason why!
Y is for yarn and the stories we spun,
Seven crafty ladies having far too much fun.
Z is for zzzz… when the retreat finally ends,
But we leave with new projects, new memories and friends.
So here's to Sew Delightful, Burra and more,
To quilting, good food and laughter galore.
