Chances are you’ve lived your whole life in Australia and never seen one of these little guys in the wild. If that’s you, it’s time to tick that one off the list ✅
 
Luckily for us, they live right here in our very own Towamba River. If you’re patient, quiet, and your timing is just right, you might just spot one.
 
We can’t guarantee nature, but we can point you in the right direction. ⤵️
 
Walk down to the river with binoculars and a bottle of w**e, sit patiently, and wait for them to arrive. Honestly, it’s the best way to do it.
 
And that’s a pretty good reason to book a stay at Currajong Retreat.

Think about the last time you were somewhere and felt it in your whole body.

The fresh air on your face, the sounds of the birds in the trees and the water moving in the river. The way the colours seem just a little brighter when you're actually present in a place like this. The kind of quiet that isn't really quiet at all, because it's full of sounds you'd forgotten existed.

AI has become more a part of our everyday lives, and it makes us think about the experiences that only exist in person, now more than ever. Because AI can generate beautiful images and videos, but what it cannot do is put you somewhere, to let you experience and feel more in touch with yourself and the world around you.

It cannot make the air fresh or the sunlight warm on your face. It cannot recreate the feeling of walking through fruit trees or under towering gum trees, and realising you've stopped thinking about everything else.

We’ve watched it happen with our guests more times than we can count. As the world becomes more connected to screens, the ability to step away and be somewhere real matters more than ever. To feel everything in the best way possible, which you can only do from right here.

That's what we built Currajong for.

Most people arrive expecting the tent, the quiet, the outdoor bath. Sometimes the birds come as the biggest surprise.

They've been here far longer than the tents. Spend a morning sitting still and you'll start to see what we mean.

Honestly, some of our favourite winter days are the ones where it’s just cold enough to make staying in feel like the only sensible thing to do. The kind that doesn’t depend on the forecast, and doesn’t ask much of you either.

You asked for Part 2. Here it is. And honestly, these might be even better.

Like the moment you walk into the tent and realise this is nothing like any camping trip you've ever been on. Or that everything is already sorted for you, meals, drinks, all of it, so you don't have to think about a single thing the entire time you're here.

And then there's the outdoor bath. The one everyone assumes is a summer thing until they try it on a cold night and realise it's actually ten times better with the chill in the air.

By the time the fire's going and the tent is glowing from the inside, you start doing the maths on whether you can squeeze in a third night.

We've still got more up our sleeve. Stay tuned.

Most people assume the outdoor bath is a summer thing. They’re missing out.

There is something genuinely special about sinking into a hot bath when the air around you is cold. The mist rises off the water, you can see your breath, and you are somehow both completely outside and still warm.

With no phone signal worth checking and nowhere you actually need to be, you end up sitting there doing absolutely nothing for longer than you have managed in months, and at some point you realise that was exactly the point.

Winter at Currajong is one of our best kept secrets, and honestly we are not sure why we are still keeping it.

Everything is included because the last thing you should be doing on holiday is making decisions.

Breakfast and dinner come to your tent, the drinks are already sorted and the fire is set before you arrive. We thought about all of it so that when you pull up, there is genuinely nothing left to figure out. There are no restaurant bookings to make, no grocery runs and no negotiating over what to do with the afternoon.

Proper rest is hard to find when you are still managing things. Here, there is nothing to manage.

Come and do nothing, very well.
