Love sales. Less enthusiastic about giving up every Saturday for the rest of your life? We’re looking for another Business Development Manager to join our Property Management team.

This is a genuine sales role – prospecting, appraisals, winning business, targets and commission – but without the regular weekend and after-hours lifestyle that tends to come with real estate sales.

We’ve just had a pretty special year in Property Management, and the team has some fairly big plans for what comes next. So we’re adding another person with a very clear brief: help us grow.

You don’t necessarily need a real estate background. We can teach the property side. We’re much more interested in someone who likes the chase, is good with people, follows things through and genuinely enjoys winning business.

Full-time preferred, although we’d consider four days for the right person.

18 awards in total… 8 National, 10 QLD. I almost don’t have words.

We’ve been fortunate enough to do pretty well at the Belle awards over the years. Coming home with a decent haul has become reasonably familiar, but this was something else. Property Management, Escapes and Sales all had huge results, with recognition across every part of the business.

Our Property Management team won QLD Property Management Team of the Year and QLD Customer Experience – PM Office of the Year. Bella won QLD Property Manager of the Year and QLD Customer Experience – Property Manager of the Year… then went on to win National Property Manager of the Year.

I don’t think Renae cried when we got married, but there were definitely tears for this. So much hard work from such a “young” team, and then Bella’s individual amazingness on top of it.

Steve isn’t young in any measurable way, but he also had a very good night – QLD Business Development Manager of the Year for transactions.

Antje and Ben getting the nod with Escapes as National Escapes Office of the Year seems like a pretty just reward for all the hard work they and the team have put in.

As for the sales team…

Belle Cairns finished No.1 QLD for transactions, No.2 for GCI, and No.3 nationally for both GCI and transactions.

Vanessa finished No.8 nationally for GCI and No.7 for transactions, as well as No.3 QLD for both GCI and transactions. Kaine’s team finished No.10 nationally and No.4 QLD for transactions.

Those national awards are from a very big playing field. Doing it year after year is a big effort and I’m super proud of the way the sales team handles themselves and the results they achieve.

It should also be said that there are lots of moving pieces behind every one of those results – a big thank you to those doing the moving too.

People sometimes look at our business like it is some alien thing. Award after award. The only thing otherworldly is Renae’s hard work. Every part of the business she touches becomes measurably better (I mostly just try to keep up), so National Operational Excellence seemed totally appropriate. 🤍

To say I’m proud of them all is an understatement.

Wow… where does the time go. Four years ago we moved into our home, and we still count ourselves lucky every day.

Building it also gave us a much better understanding of something we ask sellers to do all the time… let strangers walk through a home that has taken years of decisions, money, compromises, blood, sweat and tears (not to mention all of the actual life that happens in it afterwards) and tell you exactly what they think.

I can now very clearly imagine how I’d feel listening to someone walk through this house saying, “First thing I’d do is rip out the kitchen”, “I hate polished concrete floors” or “I’d close all of this in”… and having to remind myself that this is useful buyer feedback and I am, apparently, a professional.

We talk a lot about separating the emotion from the property when you sell, but that is obviously much easier said than done. A home isn’t just an asset to the person who has lived in it.

Four years in and we still absolutely love ours.

And no… our cat is not even remotely grateful.

We do love a Belle wedding.

I’m fairly sure neither Liam nor Myra expected work would be where they’d meet the person they’d end up marrying… but here we are.

Last weekend we were lucky enough to be there to celebrate with them.

There have been plenty of lovely things to come out of this office over the years. This one is right up there.

So happy for them both. 🤍

Nicholas and I are not especially good at letting go of the reins (is any business owner?). But we’re trying to get better.

Escapes is our holiday accommodation business, and Antje Gruttemeyer and Ben Lewis have lived and breathed it for the past few years. It’s a relentless business that runs 24/7, and you genuinely have to care. About the guests, the owners, the homes, the tiny details and all the things that go wrong at inconvenient times.

Antje and Ben are now stepping into formal roles as Co-Directors.

It is less a change to how Escapes operates and more a very well-earned recognition of what has already been true for quite a while. We are still involved (obviously…), but we genuinely could not imagine better people to continue growing this business with.

We are very proud of them both, and very excited for the next chapter. 🤍

I could give you a long list of Vanessa’s many talents, but one of them sounds pretty obvious (almost too obvious to mention) until you see how useful it actually is: she seems to file away every single house she sees somewhere in her brain.

Back in February, she met with the owners of a home in Redlynch. They weren’t ready to sell yet, so there was no campaign, no advertising and really nothing much to do at the time.

A few months later, she was talking to buyers relocating to Cairns and thought of it.

One private inspection later, it was exactly what they were looking for. Settlement was last week.

Off-market sales aren’t always about having some enormous secret database of buyers. There are obviously other things that have to line up (including both the buyer and seller trusting the agent…), but sometimes it’s also just knowing the houses, knowing the people looking for them, and remembering when the two might fit.

Trinity Beach has probably spent a little too long being treated as the poorer cousin of Palm Cove (and maybe Clifton Beach too).

The numbers have been pushing back on that for a while.

In 2024 it had the strongest house-price growth of the four main Beaches suburbs, up 15%. And in 2025/26 it was actually the busiest market overall, with 219 house and apartment sales and 17% of all sales over $1m.

And then you stand in a living room like this and wonder why anyone ever thought otherwise.

The beach didn’t suddenly get better. I think buyers have just finally caught up.

Seven years ago (not sure where that time went…), we were standing on a construction site discussing the sales campaign for Osprey Residences at Crystalbrook Bailey. COVID put a spanner in the works, and we ended up leasing the apartments instead while we waited for the right time.

Fast forward to now, and we’ve had 30 contracts exchange in three weeks.

The first release is Levels 5–8, with Levels 9–12 next.

We’ve been blown away by the response – and very proud of our team, who have been working at a fairly ridiculous pace to keep up with it.

Woah… We packed the car with what felt like a completely ridiculous number of brochure packs for Osprey Residences' first open home. Thank goodness we did.

Over 200 people came through in one hour. We had ten of us onsite stationed across three levels, with two lifts threatening to go on strike.

A very big first day at Osprey Residences.
