Well… that happened!

When we created our very first Say “I Do” at Lakeview day for 31 October, we really didn't know how couples would respond.

Four ceremony times.
Four couples.

And they're now all booked.

We created the day for couples who want to get married without turning their wedding into months of complicated planning — a beautiful ceremony, the important people beside them, and the details taken care of.

And it seems we're not the only ones who think a wedding can be beautifully simple.

So… should we do it again?

We haven't chosen another date yet, but we're now taking expressions of interest for our next Say “I Do” at Lakeview day.

Why three nights?

Because your wedding deserves more than a few rushed hours.

Day one: Arrive. Unpack. Settle in. Your closest people are here. There's time to have a glass of w**e, catch up and actually enjoy the anticipation of what's coming.

Day two: Your wedding day.
Wake up already here. No racing between places. Get ready, get married, celebrate — and when the day is over, you're staying right where you are.

Day three: Wake up married.
Have breakfast. Talk about the night before. Laugh over the photos everyone took. Spend a little more time with the people you chose to have beside you.

Day 4: Time to slowly pack up and leave.

That's why our Signature Wedding Retreat isn't built around a few hours.

Sometimes the best plans are no plans at all.

A bottle of local Orange w**e.
A little cheese.
A verandah overlooking the countryside.

And nowhere you need to be.

We love sharing the food and cool-climate w**es of Orange with our guests — but we also think they taste particularly good when you've got time to sit back and actually enjoy them.

LAKEVIEW MOMENTS ☀️

What a difference a little sunshine makes.

The creek is still rushing down from Mount Canobolas into Lake Canobolas after all the rain, the canoes were out enjoying the calm water — and the Highland cows were making the most of a beautiful sunny day.

And a beautiful sunset at a recent cellar door.

Everything feels fresh, green and very happy to see the sun again.

Just a lovely spring day at Lakeview.

FOOD & W**E FRIDAY… on Saturday 🥓🍳

A blackout had other ideas for us last night, so Food & W**e Friday is arriving a little late this week!

One of the things we love about putting together breakfast at Lakeview is including some of the great produce from our region.

And one of the favourites? Trunkey double smoked bacon.

We love it — and judging by the comments we get, our guests do too. There's something rather nice about a slow breakfast in your villa, good local bacon and eggs, and nowhere you need to be.

And right now, breakfast is on us.

Book a stay at Lakeview between now and 30 September and we'll include our breakfast hamper for your stay.

So if you've been thinking about a little escape to Orange, this might be a very good excuse. 😊

LAKEVIEW MOMENTS | After the rain 🌧️

We've certainly had some rain at Lakeview!

The creek flowing down from Mount Canobolas and into Lake Canobolas is absolutely rushing at the moment — so full it's almost spilling over its banks.

Everything around us is wet, green and very well watered... and the lake is certainly getting a top-up.

Meanwhile, life at Lakeview carries on.

The Highland cows are happily doing what cows do, and our pelican visitor has been back enjoying the lake again this week.

Just a few little moments from a very wet Lakeview.

And after all that rain, we're rather looking forward to seeing what spring brings. 🌱
