Farming Notes… The Harvest is over
The rain of the last few days means that the chestnut harvest season and picking your own is over for another year.
This year we had a bumper crop, heavier than many years.
Lots of people came for pick your own, but what surprised us was the number of people who came to buy products such as Chestnut Flour and Brae B Que Sauce.
The shop remains open during the winter months, and tours can still be booked at the farm. We met many of you at Farmers Markets in Collie, Kalamunda and Margaret River. You will not see us at these markets in June, but we will be back on the road in late July. Roasted Chestnuts have been a real favourite this year.
In June, we will be at the Global Agritourism Network Conference in Aberdeen, Scotland, where we are keynote speakers, plus planning to pick up a lot of new ideas.

From Margaret River to the world

A local initiative supporting agritourism businesses - like ours here at Chestnut Brae - has been invited to attend and sponsor the inaugural Global Agritourism Network Conference in Scotland this June.

The Agritourism Training Academy is helping farmers and rural businesses build sustainable, experience‑based offerings, from farm stays and food experiences to branding, storytelling and visitor engagement.

It’s exciting to see ideas growing out of regional communities like Margaret River contributing to global conversations - and showcasing how farms like ours can create meaningful, memorable visitor experiences.

Come by and say hello, warm up with freshly roasted chestnuts, and have a chat with the Chestnut Brae team. We’re looking forward to being part of this new local market and meeting everyone throughout the morning.

Tomorrow we’ll be heading to Kalamunda Farmers Market with more roasted chestnuts and chestnut products.

We hope to see you along the way.
