Some of our guests visit several times a year. Some perhaps for a special occasion. It’s a privilege to be on the bucket list for our interstate and international visitors alike.
Regardless; this is a place best experienced slowly.
A table set, the seasons reflected on the plate, a sense of being somewhere entirely removed from your everyday. Settle in, savour the moment and discover the pleasures of a place shaped by its surroundings. Welcome to our house on the lake. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Long weekend plans? There is a case to be made for staying on. The race that stops the nation falls at the loveliest point in our calendar. Extend your weekend into a long one and take the breather the season offers — before the festive rush arrives and carries us all off with it.

Spring has truly sprung. Blossom hangs heavy on the trees, ducklings are out in abundance, and the dawn chorus arrives like a small orchestra - kookaburra, currawong, parrots and rosella, all before coffee.

The days are longer, and our attention turns to the infinity pool overlooking the lake, set among the silver birches Alla’s mother planted. Poolside service is on tap, a good book never far.

See you soon at our house on the lake.

October 2026. Two Hats, 17.5/20

Last night at The Age Good Food Guide launch, our team were once again awarded Two Chef’s Hats, capping a four-decade run for our house on the lake, which has appeared in the Guide every year since it first opened.

“Many of today’s best regional restaurants are indebted to what Lake House created all those years ago, establishing a new kind of luxury that’s grounded in place.” - Emma Breheny, co-editor.

The privilege of continuity is not lost on us, especially in this climate. We are humbled to have the opportunity to keep doing what we do, and to keep evolving over time without chasing fads.

What moves us most is seeing a third, and sometimes a fourth, generation of young diners find their way to our table, often brought by parents and grandparents who first sat here years ago. The thought that Lake House may hold a special place for them, as it does for us, keeps us going.

We’re thankful to Good Food, and for the support of our industry colleagues and family. To our exceptional team, congratulations; this is yours. And to you, our guests and inner circle, thank you for keeping us in your hearts, minds and bellies.

We are grateful beyond words, and we hope to welcome you back to our house on the lake very soon.

The Spa at Lake House introduces Acqua Vital Lymphatic Ritual — a deeply restorative treatment designed to support the body under the pressures of modern life, including stress, inflammation, fluid retention and nervous system fatigue.

Featherlight strokes across dry skin stimulate the lymphatic system, supporting circulation and creating a sense of lightness, while warm botanical compresses, dry brushing, mineral foot wraps and a scalp massage guide the body into deep stillness.

For an even deeper winter reset, the treatment can be paired with our Tree-Top Mineral Soaks — where Daylesford’s mineral-rich waters further support circulation, release and restoration.

Some producers don’t need to shout.
has never had to.

For over five decades, this quiet, north-facing slope in the heart of the Yarra Valley has produced w**es of uncommon finesse, w**es that collectors pursue, restaurants covet, and those fortunate enough to encounter rarely forget. This August, on Saturday the 29th, we welcome Mount Mary to Lake House for a long, unhurried afternoon in the Waterfront Pavilion.

Their four estate w**es remain anchored in French tradition: the Bordeaux-style Quintet and Triolet, and a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that speak unmistakably of the Yarra Valley. All fruit estate grown. All w**e produced and bottled on site.

With just 30 seats, this is an intimate afternoon, a multi-course chef’s menu from the Lake House kitchen, each course paired to the w**es, in a setting that feels made for exactly this kind of occasion.

Winter Fridays at Lake House.

Each Friday throughout winter, local pianist and songstress Helen Davey takes her place at Florentine, our grand piano, filling the room with silky jazz and timeless melodies. After decades performing between Australia and Switzerland, Helen brings warmth, elegance and a little nostalgia to the start of every weekend.

Whether you're joining us for a long lunch, checking in for the weekend, or arriving early for dinner, settle into a leather armchair, order a martini, and let the week slip away.

Fridays | 4pm–9pm
*Available for guests dining or staying at Lake House.

Sierra Reed Wines Lunch
August 8th | Waterfront Pavilion

Some w**emakers arrive through tradition.
Sierra Reed arrived through curiosity, and her w**es reflect it: alive, expressive, and deeply considered.

Her story —
Begins not in a cellar, but in front of a camera.
While filming with Family of Twelve in New Zealand, Sierra spent time interviewing leading w**emaking families. Somewhere in those conversations, she realised she didn’t just want to tell w**e stories, she wanted to make them.
She put the camera down and picked up a vintage.

The Lunch —
This August, join us at Lake House for a long winter lunch in the Waterfront Pavilion, unhurried, generous, and built around conversation, w**e and seasonal food.
A shared winter feast from the Lake House kitchen will be paired with w**es from the Reed portfolio, with Sierra guiding each pour and sharing the stories behind them.
