The walk starts a few metres from your door.
It is unpaved and self-guided, which means you set the pace and you stop where you want to stop. Buttress roots, strangler figs, fan palms that were here long before any of this had a name.
No map required. You will hear the cabins before you see them again.

There is a reason you exhale differently under the canopy.
Time in forest environments drops cortisol and settles heart rate, and most of the research finds it happens inside the first twenty minutes, before you have walked anywhere in particular.
Twenty minutes is all it takes. But, most guests stay out longer.

Most people arrive in the Daintree hoping for a cassowary. Almost nobody expects this.

Tree-kangaroos spend most of their lives in the canopy, which is a large part of why they are so rarely recorded. Sightings are patchy and scattered, and researchers lean heavily on the public to fill in the gaps between them.
So if you see one, report it.
The QR code on the second slide takes you to the sighting form. Every record helps build a clearer picture of where they are and how they are moving between patches of forest.
If you are lucky enough to spot one, keep your distance, keep dogs contained, and slow right down on the roads at dawn and dusk.
