FRIENDLY REMINDER

McGOWAN CAMP GROUND CLOSING DATES

As another season at beautiful McGowan Island Campground comes to an end, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who visited us during the 2026 season.

The campground will close on Monday 21st September 2026. Last day of camping is Sunday 20th September 2026. Please note there will be no camping after this date.

To all our campers, thank you for your support and for choosing to spend time in this very special and remote piece of paradise.

McGowan Island is truly a special place, and it’s the people who visit that help make each season so memorable.

Sandy and Steve and the team wish to thank the Maraltadj Family and Paul Lindfield for the opportunity to camp host this year and to all the campers who helped make our hosting job memorable.

Earlier in the season at McGowan’s camp-ground one of our tourists was a very keen photographer. He was looking for night time scenes within the camp with the ‘Milky-Way’ in the background. The last photo is Mitchell Falls and the ‘Milky-way’.

FUEL UPDATE IN KALUMBURU:
Please note there is ONLY DIESEL available in Kalumburu. NO UNLEADED FUEL.

Fuel hours:
Wednesday from 8am to 10am Saturday from 8am to 10am.

Please pay for your fuel at the Kalumburu Store and take receipt to Fuel depot next to Mission to fill up.

If there is anyone travelling from Drysdale River Station to McGowan’s campground or even Honeymoon Bay over next few weeks, one of our camp helpers has 2 rims sitting at Drysdale ready to be picked up. Just need to speak with Jane in the shop as she knows about them. If you can help out this would be greatly appreciated. Please pm me for any further details.

Kalumburu is now on fuel restrictions for DIESEL to essential services only.
(NO PUBLIC SALES).
There is NO UNLEADED AVAILABLE.
If you are traveling to the area when the road is open you will need enough FUEL for your return trip back to Drysdale Station.
