We’ve had a few stops and starts on our travels.
Love that our bikes let us poke around a bit rather than driving everywhere, and we’ve worked out how to keep them and us recharged.
The downside is falling off and breaking things - in my case a collar bone! But don’t let that put you off - bikes ✔️✔️
The corrugations on the East Arnhem Road broke a few things on the hutichie too. Luckily Kim is handy! Roger that✔️✔️
There’s a lot be said for spur of the moment diversions - within reason. If you decide to head up the Gove Peninsula to Nhulunbuy
1. Make sure you have your permits in place for the best experience. Get them online well before you go. Deciding you might just “duck up there for a look” based on a random conversation with a random truckie was, with hindsight, absolutely ridiculous.
2. Put a visit to the art centre in Yirrkala, the Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka Centre, at the top of your list. The works on display there are world class and you may just be lucky enough to see this extraordinary artist Yalmakany Marawili at work (put 4 zeros behind the first number on the price of her paintings )
3. Expect corrugations. Lots of corrugations.
