Same park. Different adventures. Plenty happening!

Today, we have a local Grade 2 class and a Year 8 Grammar School group on site.
Two very different age groups, with different programs, activities and learning outcomes, and the best part? Neither group will probably even realise the other is here!

That's one of the real benefits of Gilwell Park.
With so much space to explore, groups can enjoy their own activities, move at their own pace and make the most of the natural environment without feeling like they're sharing the park with another school.

For our younger visitors, it's about discovering, exploring and building confidence through new experiences. For our older students, it's an opportunity to take on different challenges, develop skills and grow through outdoor learning.
And the day doesn't stop there!

As the school groups finish up, we'll have Cadets rolling in tonight, Joey activity day and training also taking place across the park.
From primary school adventures and secondary school outdoor education to Cadet activities, Scout trips and training, it's a great example of just how diverse life at Gilwell Park can be.

Different ages. Different groups. Different reasons for visiting. One very special place.

And that's just another busy day at Gilwell Park!

What a day to be outdoors at Gilwell Park!
The sun is shining, the team has dusted off their hats and finally located the sunscreen!

We've got a school group on site today, and with weather like this, there's no better place to be than out exploring the bush!
One of the activities on today's program is orienteering, a fantastic way for students to get moving, explore their surroundings, and put their navigation and problem solving skills to the test.

And here's something you might not know…

Orienteering is a FREE resource available to groups staying at Gilwell Park!
It's a great addition to a Scout camp, school camp or group stay, giving participants the opportunity to explore the park at their own pace while developing teamwork, communication and navigation skills.

We love seeing groups make the most of the space and opportunities Gilwell Park has to offer. Sometimes the simplest activities create some of the best experiences!

One of the great things about Gilwell Park is its adaptability, and today certainly showcased that.

As we head towards Cuboree, there’s a real sense of change and excitement across the park.

At one end of the site, we’ve on the final day of a three-day, two-night Year 10 camp a day camp school group, experiencing a full day of adventure activities.

At the same time, Cuboree bump-in has begun. Buildings are arriving, equipment is being delivered and the site is starting to transform in preparation for what’s ahead.

Behind all of this is a team that has really pulled together.
There has been a huge amount of work happening across Gilwell Park in the lead-up, preparing facilities and infrastructure, getting the grounds ready, coordinating logistics and doing all those jobs that need to happen before the site is handed over for Cuboree team to take over.

It’s a great example of just how adaptable Gilwell Park and all involved can be, school camp one moment, major Scout event preparations the next.

Sometimes wellbeing looks like this…

Today, more than 250 Year 7 and 8 students arrived at Gilwell Park for a day focused on wellbeing.

Before they stepped off the bus, phones were checked in with their teachers.

Then something pretty simple happened.
They spent the day outside.

We watched students build bush huts together, balance along fallen logs, explore the bush, talk, laugh and simply enjoy the freedom of being outdoors.

No scrolling. No notifications. No screens competing for their attention.

Just time to move, explore, connect with friends and be present in the moment.

There is growing evidence of the importance of spending time in nature for our wellbeing, but days like today are also a great reminder of something many of us have known for a long time, young people need opportunities to switch off from technology and spend time outside.

Not every wellbeing activity needs to be complicated.
Sometimes it’s a log to balance on, a bush hut to build, friends beside you and a whole day outdoors.

And judging by the laughter around Gilwell Park today, they made the most of every minute.

Strong partnerships and great conversations.

Today we welcomed representatives from the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) to Gilwell Park, including a local ranger based in Gembrook.

It was a great opportunity to get out from behind the meeting table and walk the site together, showcasing Gilwell Park, our natural environment and the many ways the property is used.

Building strong relationships with local people and organisations is important to us, and days like today create valuable opportunities to share knowledge, strengthen connections and explore how we can work together into the future.
