Girraween National Park means "place of flowers," and September and October are when it really earns the name.
Wildflowers come up through the granite boulders this time of year.
White heaths, pink trigger plants, golden billy buttons, granite bluebells.
It's a different park to the one you'd see in winter, and it's about thirty minutes south of us.
If you want a bit more than a walk, the Stanthorpe Rare Wildflower Consortium runs free guided wildflower walks through spring, including one inside Girraween itself.
They're popular, so worth booking ahead if the timing works for your stay.
We still send guests there every spring, and they still come back saying they didn't expect it to be that good.
Worth the half day, if you can spare it.
