A sense of place sits at the heart of Hunter.
From the beginning, we knew the cabins needed to feel intrinsically connected to their surroundings; not imposed upon the landscape, but quietly belonging to it.
This was the driving factor in selecting local Hobart architects Maguire + Devine to help us bring our vision to life.
Their approach to design is rooted in creating atmospheres, feelings and sensations, architecture that engages the senses and evokes an emotional response, rather than simply creating something beautiful to look at.
It was exactly the philosophy we were searching for.
The architecture is deliberately understated, allowing the landscape to lead. Natural materials, considered textures, changing light and carefully framed views create a dialogue between the cabins and the Tasmanian bushland beyond.
We wanted Hunter to feel unmistakably Tasmanian, through the way the spaces make you feel.
To arrive, slow down, look out across the valley and feel, perhaps for the first time in a while, that you have the space around you to breathe.
This is architecture shaped by its place and designed to be felt.
