A ripple. Eyes and a nose sitting just above the waterline. Then a long, scaly back sliding through the billabong so slowly it barely disturbs the surface.

Saltwater crocodiles have been perfecting this move since dinosaurs walked the earth. Armour-plated, patient and perfectly built for Kakadu's rivers and billabongs.

Seeing one in the wild is a bucket-list moment, and remember always be Crocwise. ⚠️

One of Kakadu's most popular waterholes, Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) is open during the dry season, and it's firmly on the "must do" list. 💦

A walk through monsoon forest and along a sandy creek leads you to a waterfall spilling into a deep, clear plunge pool surrounded by towering gorge walls. Pure Kakadu magic. 🌿

Just a short drive from the Croc, it's one of the best places in Kakadu to slow down, take a seat in the bird hide and let the wetlands put on a show.

Heading into Kakadu? Make Bowali Visitor Centre your first stop.

As the park's headquarters, it's the best place to get your bearings. Chat to rangers about current track and swimming hole conditions, check out the cultural displays, and just enjoy the quietness of being in Kakadu. Best of all, you can purchase your Kakadu National Park pass right there if you haven't sorted one online.

A pass is required for entry, so this is one errand worth ticking off before you head out to explore. Just a short drive from the Croc Hotel in Jabiru. 🗺️
