4.9 MILLION DUCKS LAST YEAR. WHAT WILL 2026 SHOW?

Victoria’s annual game duck survey is underway, with more than 860 waterbodies being counted across the state. Last year’s survey estimated 4.9 million game ducks, a figure that helped produce a modelled harvest quota of about 486,000 ducks and a daily bag limit of nine for the 2026 season.

This year’s count will feed into the modelling for what comes next.
