Crayfishing hacks 101: go to the op shop and buy a cheap second hand fork (or use one of your Mums favourite Stirling silver ones that she got for a wedding present back in 1994), bend 3 tynes down and turn it into a “Johnny long prong” like this one.
This is what I use to extract the meat from the claws, arms and knuckles. It works AWESOME 😛👍🦞

🍖🦌 SALAMI LOVERS – THIS ONE’S FOR YOU! 🦌🍖

Next week I’ll be joining the team from Cleaver Salami Cabinets in Hobart for a special Wild Game Salami Demonstration as part of the Dark M**o festivities.

Dave and the crew have organised a fantastic evening at Deep South Brewing where Dave will be showcasing how to make wild game salami using venison, paired with dark flavours and great local beer. It sounds like the perfect winter night out.

I’ll also be there as the reigning Grand Champion of the 2025 Tasmanian Salami Prize as we officially launch the 2026 Tasmanian Salami Prize competition.

Whether you’re already making salami, looking to learn, or just want an excuse to talk hunting, game meat, curing and enjoy a beer with like-minded people, come along and say g’day.

The Estimates of the 2025 deer harvest in Victoria report shows that the most popular hunting areas for hound hunters were around the towns of Bairnsdale, Mansfield, Myrtleford, Marysville and Omeo, respectively.

The highest number of Sambar Deer harvested using hounds were around the towns of Bairnsdale, Mansfield, Myrtleford, Bright and Omeo, respectively.

ISSF Junior World Championships incoming!

The Australian Team has commenced departures to Suhl, Germany for the 2026 ISSF World Championships Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun.

13 athletes will be competing in Suhl and will be supported by coaches and the performance support team.
