A message from Tony & Erin the Caretakers of Kennilworth Showgrounds.

The time has come for us to hang up our shirts, take off our boots one last time and drive off into the world of happy Retirement.

We are wanting to thank you all for welcoming and letting us be a part of this beautiful little community. We leave here with fond memories and with many friendships made during our time here.

To our valued campers, thank you for all the wonderful memories we have made over the years. Your presence has made this place special, and we will cherish the time we’ve spent here. We wish you all the best and hope you continue to enjoy this beautiful location.

A Welcome to the New Caretakers
We know you will bring a fresh perspective and a continued dedication to making this an even better place for everyone to share and enjoy. We are sure they will enjoy their time here as much as we have.
Please extend them the same kindness and support you have shown us.

Thank you again for everything.

Tony & Erin

The Kenilworth Community Noticeboard page has proved itself to be so important to this community since its inception and it is valued by so many and please take the following as a measure of support and a plea to understand the
As many of you may be aware the Sunshine Coast Council has a dedicated Disaster Management Team who coordinate information and assess need and implement actions to assist the community to survive disaster situations. There is a local group that feed back information to the council disaster headquarters team. This Disaster Headquarters team in times of disaster includes:- all the necessary infrastructure powers – electricity, telecommunications, road, health services as well as community support services like Lifeline and Salvation Army.
The Disaster Team HQ became a member of our Facebook Community Noticeboard Page on my recommendation during the 2022 flooding. It was due to the photographs of damage to local roads and bridges appearing on the FB Community Noticeboard during that flood period that our roads were repaired so quickly because the Dept of Main Roads officials were in the room and viewed the Kenilworth photographs on the big screen used for information sharing From memory that was within 5 days of the waters receding. This is why it is so important that local images of disaster damage appear on the page – not hidden away on a separate tab. Deny some of the general advertising during that period to give space for such photographs to appear, please. People who may be anxious about an impending disaster may not be able to absorb information that requires searching for – they need to be hit in the face with images and information when they first open a page. Factual information has been found to improve recovery – well documented in research – and remember “one picture is worth a thousand words”.
