🌿 They love munching on seeds, grasses, fruits and flowers.
🌿 They're often spotted feeding on the ground or perched in trees.
🌿 Their bright plumage makes them easy to recognise, but their colours vary by species - from brilliant reds and blues to yellows and greens!
🌿 Rosellas nest in tree hollows, which means providing safe nesting spaces can help when natural hollows are scarce.

That's why we're committed to installing 10 hollow log homes across Noonaweena by the end of 2026 - helping create safe spaces for our incredible native wildlife.

AND JUST LIKE THAT… HOME No. 3 IS ON ITS WAY!

This one is a little special… our third Hollow Log Home will be going to one of the forest’s tiny tree-climbing experts - the White-throated Treecreeper (Cormobates leucophaea)!

Have you ever spotted one at Noonaweena? They’re the little birds you’ll often see spiralling their way up tree trunks, using their long toes, sharp curved claws and clever little bills to hunt for ants and insects hiding beneath the bark.

A few fun facts:
They’re only around 12–17cm long
Their distinctive white throat makes them easier to identify
They can climb head-first up tree trunks
Ants are a favourite part of their diet
Their loud piping call can often be heard before you spot them
They nest inside tree hollows — making natural hollows incredibly important habitat.

10 HOMES. ONE BIG WILDLIFE LEGACY.

Did you know we’ve committed to installing 10 hollow log homes at Noonaweena by the end of 2026?
And this week… HOME #1 & #2 are officially up!

Home #1 - Pygmy Possum
Tiny but mighty! Pygmy possums are one of Australia’s smallest possums, and natural tree hollows are an important part of their habitat. These little homes give them a safe place to shelter, nest and raise their young.

Home #2 - Kookaburra
Because every bushland needs a little more laughter! Our kookaburra home provides an alternative nesting space where natural hollows are limited.
Both homes are eco-certified and designed specifically to support our local wildlife.
And here’s the best part…
YOU - our wonderful guests - are making this happen. ❤️

Every donation helps us create another home, another safe space and another little piece of habitat for the creatures that call Noonaweena home.

We've just purchased our SECOND Hollow Log Home!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our guests, another wildlife home is on its way to Noonaweena - this time for one of Australia's cutest little residents... the Pygmy Possum!

Did you know?
🍃 Pygmy Possums are tiny and love cosy spaces.
🍃 They fill their homes with leaves to make a snug nest.
🍃 This specially designed hollow has a small side entrance so they can safely climb straight in from the tree.
🍃 Like natural tree hollows, these homes often become shelter for other native wildlife too!

This is Hollow Home #2 of our goal to install 10 wildlife homes across Noonaweena. Every donation helps restore vital habitat for the amazing animals that call this special place home.

In 2026, we've set ourselves a mission to install 10 hollow log homes across our property, creating safe nesting and shelter sites for native wildlife. Our goal is to raise $3,000, and we'd love your help.

Why are hollow log homes so important?

✨ Australia has lost countless old-growth trees that naturally develop hollows, yet these hollows can take 100–200 years to form.
✨ Nearly 300 Australian native species rely on tree hollows for shelter, nesting and protection.
✨ Artificial hollow log homes provide a safe refuge while our forests regenerate.

Our hollow log homes will support incredible local wildlife, including:
