Great gig.. get on down
Hi Friends,
I’m crossing Bass Strait to Tassie, at the invitation of Independent MP Craig Garland, to perform at the 'ROCKIN' FOR ROBBINS' festival in Wynyard on Sat, June 27th.
It’s a one-day music festival to raise awareness and encourage community action around the significant environmental & cultural risks posed to Robbins Island, from the proposed wind farm, recently approved by both the Federal and State governments.
“Why are you opposing a wind farm?”, you ask.
“I thought you supported alternative energy?”
I most certainly do but we need to be discerning about where they go. Like so many Tasmanians, I also think it’s the right idea in the wrong place.
Robbins Island is one of the few sanctuaries for disease free
Tassie Devils. As a vital node for the East Asian - Australasian Flyway, supporting up to 25,000 migratory and residential birds, it should
be a RAMSAR listed site. Many of the bird species are protected
and/or endangered.
The island is also a place of deep cultural significance.
Tasmanian taxpayers also have serious questions about the
cost of the the Marinus Link.
Robbins Island wind farm:
RIGHT IDEA .. WRONG PLACE.
