As we prepare to unveil our new historical timeline at the Mahogany Inn and Distillery Open House on Saturday 24 October, we're celebrating the wonderful work we've undertaken with our local historical society, Mundaring and Hills Historical Society inc. to research, document and share our heritage venue's history as accurately as possible.

However, this project is about more than dates and events. It's about attempting to trace stories to their sources, acknowledging evidence, respecting local folklore and preserving the history that gives our beautiful venue its unique character.

We're incredibly grateful to our local historical society, run by volunteers, for their dedication and expertise. Our collaboration is a wonderful example of how businesses and community organisations can work together to preserve heritage and enrich the experiences of visitors and locals alike.

It's a great example of how history, tourism and hospitality are intrinsically linked. People visit and stay with us not just for food, drink and accommodation, but for the stories and character that make a place special.

โค๏ธ Join us at our Open House on Saturday 24 October to explore our new historical timeline and discover more about the remarkable history, enduring legends and unanswered questions of our Inn.

Because sometimes, the stories we cannot prove are the very ones that inspire us to keep looking.

Twinning!! ๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธ

It was a VERY close call last year for our staff Halloween costume competition - but Jim.... er, we mean Leala, came first (we know, you can't tell which is the real Jim it was so realistic ๐Ÿ˜‰).

Who will win this year? Join us for Halloween at The Inn. With live music from Bill Chidgzey, spooky decorations, themed cocktails and costume competitions for both staff and customers, it's sure to be a scream! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐ŸงŸโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿซจ

"The Value of History โ€“ the study of the past and telling its stories are critical to our sense of belonging, to our communities and to our shared future." Mundaring and Hills Historical Society inc. (MHHS).

We have been working with MHHS for more than twelve months to put together an timeline and history board to be displayed at The Mahogany Inn and Distillery (MID).

The timeline came about because of the variation of dates and stories documenting the history of The Inn, and following several discussions between MID and MHHS, MHHS was engaged to undertake this research project.

The research has taken the form of a literature review with a systematic analysis of existing research and records, including checking newspapers, family stories and memories, history books, and heritage assessment documents. Hours upon hours of sifting through these history accounts has culminated in forming this timeline which The Inn and Mundaring and Hills Historical Society inc. hope will provide some clarity on the history of the venue.

We are so excited to be bringing this document, and its associated history board to the Perth Hills community and will be unveiling it this Saturday, 24 October from 12pm at Mahogany Inn and Distillery Open House.

With free gin and vodka tasting, light bites and accommodation tours*, it will be a day to remember.

Please join us!

*Accommodation tours will be taking place between 12pm-1pm.
