Sand underfoot, salt on the breeze, and wildflowers lining the way. 🌸🌊

Today on the Cape to Cape Track near Ellensbrook, the coastal heath was glowing under clear blue skies, with bright pink blooms tucked into the scrub and the Indian Ocean stretching out ahead.

This is Kambarang season on Wardandi Noongar Country, when warmer days bring the coast alive with colour. There’s no better time to lace up your boots and see it for yourself.

Super low tide at Surfers Point this morning 🌊

The reef is fully exposed, the rock pools are glowing turquoise, and the swell is still peeling on the outer break. When the water drops this far, you don’t paddle out. You walk.

That’s local young gun Olive Hardy strolling across the reef, board under arm, heading straight for the lineup. Just another day in paradise.

Low tides like this are perfect for a careful rock pool wander, but watch your footing, stay off the living reef where you can, and keep an eye on the sets.

A wonderful day at the office 🌊

Every now and then we step outside the resort to soak up the coastline right down the road.

Today we also spotted the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter patrolling overhead, keeping our coastline safe. A big thank you to the crew who look after everyone who swims, surfs and explores here 🚁💙

Meet our busiest guests 🍯🐦

If you’ve heard a sharp, chattering call in SurfPoint’s gardens, you’ve probably met a New Holland honeyeater.

Look for the black and white streaks, the bright yellow flash on the wings, and that striking white eye. They rarely sit still for long, darting from flower to flower and seeing off anyone who gets too close to their favourite feeding spot.

This Kambarang season on Wardandi Noongar Country, they’re out in force, feasting on nectar from our bottlebrush and kangaroo paws. In return, they carry pollen from bloom to bloom, helping our native gardens thrive. 🌸

Best spotting time? Early morning, coffee in hand, and before sunset when the day is winding down.

Look who’s out looking for something to eat! Meet the yoorna, our south-west bobtail 🦎

A few fun facts about these lovely locals:

🔹 That stumpy tail looks stores fat for leaner times.
🔹 They’re loyal. Pairs often reunite every spring, some for 20+ years.
🔹 They give birth to live young, usually 1 to 3 big babies in late summer.
🔹 They love a snail, so they’re welcome garden helpers.
🔹 The blue tongue and hiss are all bluff. They’re harmless.

Spring is mating season, so keep an eye out for them during your stay. We have 6 regular resident yoorna at SurfPoint Resort.
If you’re driving around Margaret River, please slow down and give them right of way 💙

🌏 We did it! SurfPoint Resort is a global winner. 🏆 We’re incredibly proud to share that SurfPoint Resort has won the Accommodation, Food & Hospitality Services category at the 2026 Skål International Sustainable Tourism Awards, presented at the Skål International World Congress in Gqeberha, South Africa. 🇦🇺🇿🇦

This is our first global sustainability award, and it belongs to so many people. To our team, who live and breathe low-impact hospitality every day. Our parent company Cape to Cape Explorer Tours who partner with us to reduce their tour impacts on our environment. To the Wardandi elders, whose teachings guide how we care for this Country. To our community partners, our guests, and everyone who has walked this journey with us.

From protecting Gnarran (western ringtail possum) habitat to reducing our energy and water footprint, sustainability at SurfPoint has never been about a trophy. It’s about building today for tomorrow. 🌿

Donkey Orchid magic 🌼 These beauties are popping up along the Cape to Cape right now near Yallingup. Always a favourite for first-time spotters, with those unmistakable “ears” that give them their name.

Keep an eye on the trail edges this week as they won’t be around for long!
