We spent the day exploring our beautiful region yesterday. Starting the day with relaxing coffee in the garden at Kookaburra Creek, to bird spotting and nature walks amongst the wildflowers at Mambray Creek, a beachside dance at Pt Germein, to ending the day with delicious wood fired pizza and Flinders Ranges gin at Jackas Brewery.
Yesterday marked the day we celebrated our wedding at Kookaburra Creek, all of 30 years ago! Such gorgeous locations we’re surrounded by to spend time celebrating.❤️
We really do have a lot on offer here in the Southern Flinders Ranges to fill your day with wonderful experiences.
Kookaburra Creek makes a great base for exploring. Come and enjoy now while the countryside is looking lush and the weather is so perfect.

We take a lot of pride in maintaining the accommodation and gardens and nurturing the land, here at Kookaburra Creek.
We are passionate about building great experiences here for guests to enjoy this beautiful part of the world we live in.
It is a joy to share.
Our family has a continued commitment to living in harmony with the land, flora and fauna and with great care and respect.
We hope that you too enjoy our bush property as much as we do, and that a little piece of Kookaburra Creek stays with you. ❤️

Heavy outback rains have triggered a phenomenal “super bloom” of Sturt Desert Peas across the Flinders Ranges, BUT have you seen the Running Postman carpeting the walking trails at Alligator Gorge!? ❤️🌺❤️
We thoroughly enjoyed the 10km Ring Route over the weekend. The Running Postman were spectacular to see in flower, along with orchids and other flowering natives which were thriving.

Bushfires trigger a dramatic surge in flower growth and seed germination through a process called pyrogenic flowering and fire-stimulated germination.
It’s exciting to see the re growth and positive effects the 2025 bushfire, followed by good recent rainfall has had on the land.

The Alligator Gorge turn off is just 10 minutes drive down the road from Kookaburra Creek.
It is a must see!

Fun fact: Salvation Jane, also known as Paterson’s Curse was intentionally introduced to Australia in the mid-19th century as an ornamental garden plant and for use in flowerbeds and borders. And thanks to those handful of green thumbs, we now unfortunately have pretty purple hues and rolling hills of the invasive w**d! 💜😝
It’s not this prolific every year, usually only after a good season of rain.
Check out the colour variations we’ve found here!
