Planning out your next trip to the Margaret River region? Why not jump in the car and head a short 30 minutes from Yelverton Brook to beautiful Gnarabup Beach?

This very quintessential stretch of Western Australian coastline is a hub of the local community and offers an insight into local life - the daily ritual of early morning swimmers and surfers taking to the water a familiar sight.

Head along walking trails through the sand dunes for spectacular views over the Indian Ocean from the limestone cliff at the southern end of the beach - a great vantage point from which to spot dolphin pods and even whales depending on the time of year!

We also highly recommend checking out the popular White Elephant Cafe which offers casual dining right on the beachfront - the perfect spot to grab a coffee and watch this beautiful part of the world go by!

Visiting the Margaret River region? Pop Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse on your must-do list!

Set on a high limestone cliff, this shorter lighthouse still delivers big on views – with guided tours taking you to the balcony for sweeping outlooks over the Indian Ocean, Cape Naturaliste, the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park and Geographe Bay.

It’s a great way to learn the maritime history of the region without climbing hundreds of steps (unlike the much taller Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse down south near Augusta!).

One of the things we’ll always remember
was how close everything felt.

We were given a little food for the animals…
and not long after, they appeared.

Kangaroos quietly coming in,
as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

There was something very special about it.
Not a zoo, not a tour…
just being there, sharing the space.

It made us slow down,
take it all in,
and appreciate the moment.

And when we weren’t doing that,
there was still so much nearby to explore.

But honestly…
those quiet wildlife moments were the highlight.
