Each unit has an ensuite and basic kitchen amenities, there is a fire pit onsite and plenty of walks and wildlife.

We're looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic person to join our team at Cradle Gateway Chalets & Café and Cradle Forest Cottages, nestled in the beautiful wilderness near Cradle Mountain.

Your role will include a mix of café duties, guest service, housekeeping and preparing our beautiful chalets for arriving guests.

We're looking for someone who:

Has a positive attitude and a great work ethic

Enjoys being part of a supportive team

Takes pride in attention to detail

Is reliable, flexible and happy to lend a hand

Brings warmth and genuine care to everything they do

Hospitality experience is welcome, but attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn matter most.

SPRING IS COMING ALIVE AT THE GATEWAY! 🌸🌿

The school holidays aren't over yet, and neither is the fun! 🥳

There's something pretty special about spring in the Tasmanian wilderness. The scenery is changing, the wildlife is out and about, and our café team has been loving the school holiday buzz so much they've decided they want to keep it going! 😂❤️

So, over the next three weeks, we're bringing a little extra fun to Cradle Gateway Café!

🐎 A touch of spring racing glamour
☕ Delicious coffee and warming food
🎃 A little Halloween mischief
🌿 And plenty of that Cradle Mountain magic!

With one more week of school holidays to enjoy, there's still time to pack up the family, take the scenic route and make a day of it.

Spring at Cradle Mountain. Apparently. 😂❄️

The daffodils are out, the sky is blue and there’s still snow and ice sitting on the ground around us.

Welcome to spring in the Tasmanian high country.

It’s absolutely beautiful - but days like today are also a good reminder for anyone heading out onto the walking tracks around Cradle Mountain:

Dress for more than the weather you can see when you leave.

Conditions here can change incredibly quickly, and sunshine at breakfast doesn’t necessarily mean sunshine on the track a few hours later.

Layers are your friend, and if you’re relying on down for warmth, make sure you have a proper waterproof outer layer to keep it dry. Once down gets wet and clumps together, it loses much of the loft that keeps you warm.

Good waterproof footwear, a rain jacket and warm layers can make the difference between enjoying Tasmania’s wonderfully unpredictable weather and having a fairly miserable walk.

Back here at Cradle Gateway, we’ve lit the fire pit, the indoor fireplace is roaring and the melted hot chocolate is flowing.

Stay warm, stay dry — and never completely trust a beautiful blue Tasmanian sky. 😂

The first daffodils are beginning to open at Cradle Gateway - and there are hundreds more waiting behind them.

Spring near Cradle Mountain doesn’t arrive all at once.

It begins with a few brave flowers, a little more light in the afternoon and the occasional day when we’re confident enough to leave the jacket inside. Then, almost without warning, the whole property begins to wake up.

Over the coming weeks, this garden will become a sea of yellow outside the café, welcoming guests arriving for their stay and travellers stopping for coffee on their way to the mountain.

For now, we’re enjoying these first little signs that winter is loosening its grip.

Are daffodils the official sign of spring? Or is there something else you wait to see each year? 💛

Apparently this is what “working from home” looks like when home is also an accommodation business, café and construction project. 😂

Today’s office is the corner of the café, coffee within reach, forest outside the window and approximately 47 tabs open on the laptop.

We’ve been doing a huge amount behind the scenes lately — improving our accommodation, planning what comes next and learning (sometimes the hard way!) just how much goes into running a little tourism business in regional Tasmania.

It’s busy. It’s occasionally chaotic. And we absolutely love it.

Some days, Cradle Mountain doesn’t need sunshine.

A little rain. Mist sitting low in the trees. A warm chalet waiting at the end of the day. The fire on, a hot drink in hand, and absolutely nowhere you need to be.

This is one of our favourite versions of Tasmania.

Quiet. Wild. Cosy. Completely unhurried.
