Royal Arms Guesthouse Nimmitabel Historic B&B in the Monaro region. ABOUT THE ROYAL ARMS

The older part of the Royal Arms was constructed in the 1850s, originally trading as the Royal Hotel.

A two-storey extension was added later, providing accommodation to guests. Over the years the building has served as pub, boarding house, dining hall, reception room, and bed & breakfast. From 1989-1991 the building was renovated by the Garside family to restore it to its historical form, removing various attempts to modernize the building's appearance, replacing rotting timbers, rewiring and replumbing. The result has been an elegant building that once again asserts itself in the center of town. ABOUT NIMMITABEL

Nimmitabel is a small country town on the southern end of the Great Dividing Range, located on the Snowy Mountains Highway 20 minutes south of Cooma. From here it is an easy day trip to the mountains or the beaches.

Last night we hosted a group of cyclists from the Shoalhaven. It was such a pleasure to host, providing dinner and breakfast to them as well.

Today we put on our farmer hats and attended a catchment mapping workshop with Mulloon Institute.

Trapping more water in the dry Australian landscape has to be a win! We look forward to further adventures.

A two-day bootcamp is planned for March in the Coolumbooka Catchment. Keep an eye out if you're interested

The colours of the grasses around the Lake are gorgeous at present. Taken in the rain on Friday, the russet colour just stood out

If you're in Nimmitabel, even for a short break, the walk around the Lake is an easy one with the path put in by the Lions club. We highly recommend it

Beautiful wet day here on the Monaro.

It's been incredibly dry, although not like in 2019 just before those dreadful fires. The feeding of stock by our farmers and the amount of wildlife on the roadside has been very challenging. Let's hope that this moisture brings positive notes to all, not just our eyes.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Unfortunately the Sundowner Cafe will not be re-opening until after the New Year.

Life often comes at you fast and out of nowhere. Our family find themselves suddenly grappling with the big C. We're still keen to continue our journey of good food, excellent coffee, and warm hospitality with you, our friends & customers, but understandably we're a little distracted at the moment.

Treasure your loved ones this Christmas. We'll see you all in the New Year. šŸ«¶
